Where to begin? I passed by this place so many times on my way to work but I already had my go to Italian food place that I never gave it a second thought. Until I decided to give them a try, that it is. It is now my new go to Italian food place and I tell anyone who is interested.
Although I have yet to try their pizza, I am slowly working my way through their menu. With that said I would like to review what I have tried so far.
Number one at the top of the list is their Kebab Wrap. It's non-fat lean beef (steak) wrapped in a flour tortilla with lettuce, onions, tomato and a hot sauce (not sure what it is, but it's perfect). It's absolutely one of the best wrap sandwiches that I ever had and it pairs perfectly with Belle Isle Cold Brewed Coffee Moonshine (will need to try it with Hobanero Honey next time). Unlike most steak type sandwiches, there was not a single ounce of fat or gristle anywhere in the sandwich. Every bite was full of flavor without any of the unpleasant gristle found in most steak type sandwiches.
My next favorite is their Calzones. Although calzone is standard fare with most Italian food restaurants, there's something about their calzones that makes them stand out. And similar to many Italian restaurants, you can build your own calzone with different toppings. One of my favorites is Hawaiian with mushrooms, breakfast bacon and pineapple. But anything you choose to build your own will be a work of perfection. Their Stromboli's are of a similar perfection.
Their pasta dishes, while similar to other Italian restaurants, also stand out above the rest. It has everything to do with their marinara sauce, with and without meat. Some places use either too much, or not enough. But My New York Pizza seems to use just the right amount. I'm particularly fond of their eggplant parmigiana, spaghetti with meat sauce and lasagna. But I haven't made it all the way through the menu yet so I may need to update this review as I work my through it.
Being from the North East I love my grinders (submarine sandwich) just as much as the next person. But I haven't quite got to that part of the menu yet. However, I do need to comment regarding one reviewer who complained that their grinder was toasted and tore up the inside of their mouth. First off, I seriously doubt that the crust of toasted grinder bread is sharp enough to do quite the damage they described. Actually, I would deny that it's physically possible! And secondly, whether they like it or not, grinders are "supposed" to be toasted! The closest I've come to a grinder from the North East is Jersey Mike's. But they don't toast their grinders, nor do they have an oven on the premises to do so even if I wanted mine toasted! So to find an Italian restaurant that actually toasts their grinders is a pleasure. My recommendation is to try an Italian grinder with oil and vinegar toasted. They are the absolute best!
I could go on about the food but I'm hoping what little I've written will convince you to give this place a try. Everything, and I do mean everything, I've tried was above average and a step above your standard Italian food or pizza restaurant. Now about the staff....
I'm not sure where the owner is from (he has a very distinct accent) and I could care less. But I am thankful that he decided to settle in the Keller area and less than 2 miles from my home. It's quite convenient to place my order before leaving work and picking it up on my way home. The reviewer who said you need to add an extra 30 minutes to the pickup time provided doesn't know what they're talking about. My orders have always been ready, on time. But even if they weren't, the atmosphere of the place is great and I wouldn't mind waiting a little extra longer if need be. They have an excellent selection of brews on tap with more than enough televisions to keep your mind occupied while you wait. But in all likelihood your order will be ready when they tell you it will be.
What more can you ask for? Excellent food, staff, atmosphere with good brew and sports...
Read moreDon't frequent this place, the store owner called me a low-life and treated me like dirt after getting my order wrong. They gave me cheese sticks when we ordered a cheese steak. We tipped $3 on a $6.48 order, totaling $9.48. When I returned to ask for a cheesesteak, I explained that we were from SC and perhaps it was our accent. He said they are from Philly and all over the US it's pronounced "cheese steak." He said they didn't make the mistake. When I realized he was being condescending I said that I would rate them. In hindsight I don't believe he understood what I meant because his reaction was to call me a low life, and told me to get out of his store and go back to SC. He gestured to threw my food at me. As I was leaving, I tried to record what he was saying but since I had someone on the phone, I could not. He pushed me and grabbed my phone and said "You can't record people." I was thinking you can't push people either. Apparently you can. According to law enforcement, since there was no bodily harm, there was no assault. I didn't lie and say it caused me bodily harm but this experience shook me to the core. To make matters worse, the officers actually asked me to go back inside and apologize and everything would go away. I doubt they would learn that their wife or daughter was treated as such and suggest she go back and apologize. His police call said I refused to leave and caused a disturbance. Yet I have video of him following me to my car and taking pictures of me, he was antagonistic. Yet they chose to believe this store owner was justified in calling me names, pushing me, and grabbing my phone, threatening to throw my food at me. Despite my higher education and credentials, on that day I was simply a customer, treated like dirt. Needless to say he wasn't even issued a class C misdemeanor like the officer suggested he would. After visiting the police station twice, I have no information on who this guy is. No employee or business owner should handle customers, women or anyone that way, and not be consequenced. Very poor customer service, his behavior was egregious and should not be tolerated. I would not recommend them...
Read moreVery disappointed in the customer service on today, granted not having an owner to apologize or make a conservative effort to correct the mistake, or resolve the issue. I have frequented this establishment several times and have always complimented the food quality and had cordial conversation with the owner, yet when I made an honest attempt to bring him back food of poor quality to address, his arrogant attitude came to the forefront. For someone to tell a customer that basically its not the food yet its YOU! Is not only appalling but outright disappointing, despite full, and disrespectful not to mention just bad business. In times Like these you would hope that business we support and give our hard earned money to, would appreciate our patronage and support. I Now know its not about customer service, its truly about an arrogant pizza owner who feels he can't do no wrong...with that being said Sir, just know Social Media is watching! Have a bless day and please throw away the pizza I graciously returned. Runner/KellerTx Please read the owners reply, it says it all, why don't you share a picture of the pizza I returned, because you know that you.are.trying to cover your self from your arrogant disposition, knowing that pizza was NOT HALF...
