EDIT 2:
Been 2 years since the edit. Unfortunately I have to drop the 5 stars. This place is no where near as good as it used to be. It's been months since I even bothered to go. The food has really gone downhill, I don't know if there are new owners or something? But it feels like they're trying to focus more on being a flashy nice looking Japanese place than being a place with amazing food and service. Shame because there's no point in looking nice if your food is overpriced garbage which is basically what its become. I honestly don't see myself going back again.
EDIT:
I wrote this review 4 years ago, apparently. I just wanted to take a moment to update it to let people know that I have regularly continued to visit this place throughout this entire time, and my 5 stars remain. This place is a must go if you're looking for delicious AND authentic Japanese food, good sushi, and probably some of the best service you'll find anywhere in Miami. It's really nice that this place has remained so consistently good for so long.
ORIGINAL POST:
This is absolutely without a doubt in my mind, the BEST Japanese restaurant in Miami. If someone thinks some other place is better, that's just because they've never been here. The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, made to order and authentic. The service is phenomenal. The staff there is so nice warm and welcoming every single time. If you haven't been here and you're looking for a great Japanese place to have a nice night out, this is definitely the place. An...
Read moreI had it at 5 stars, changing to 1. I spent $122 on food to be harassed about having ordered it online when I picked up. My mom wrote in the notes eel sauce please, not realizing you could just order it. Whoever it was who helped me went on and on about how we went about ordering the sauce. So the sauce, how much is it? $1? I said hey no big deal, I can pay for it now. I’m here. No no, it’s fine they said. So is it fine or not? It was a big deal 5 seconds ago when I was being lectured. As someone who works in a restaurant, when an orders total needs to be changed due to something left in the notes of an order, we just call them and inform them. It’s met with a “no problem.” It was written on the receipt already, in addition to the lecture I was met with. Also, any online ordering site says clearly that things written in the notes may have an up charge. I agreed to that when I ordered online. So rude…. Over a side of sauce. Will not be returning. I understand this not a big chain restaurant, but kindness is free. Something like “hey, thanks for ordering! I apologize for the inconvenience but I have to charge for the eel sauce ordered on the side.” It’s really not hard. So many ways this could have been...
Read moreI was really looking forward to taking a girlfriend of mine here on a lunch date and was rather disappointed after seeing how well they were rated on Yelp. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall with easy parking. Their servers were very attentive and polite so my rating is mostly based upon their food. Another reason I chose to eat here was because of their large variety of lunch specials (all reasonable prices) which my boyfriend and I ordered from.
I got the Lunch Combo Deluxe $13.50 which came with Sushi, Sashimi, Beef Teriyaki, and Miso Soup. The soup was average and the beef teriyaki was okay---the sauce being better than most places but the meat a little chewy. The portion size for the sushi items was great which is why I wished it had tasted much better. The rice was stale and not good at all while the fish didn't seemed a little dry. My boyfriend ordered the Sashimi Combo $11.95 which was also greatly portioned but very mediocre in taste. My friend ordered the Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll which looked beautiful and really enjoyed it which was our saving grace of this meal.
I found the experience to be unimpressionable so probably will not return since I do not live...
