Being Thai, its always hard to find authentic restaurants in Miami that are not fusion but true Thai food as good as my mom's home cooking! So imagine my surprise at paying only $9.99 for a massive lunch that truly tasted authentic and transported my mind to memories of eating in Bangkok!
I had heard great things about this restaurant from friends but always avoided going (shamefully) just because of their name which I assumed would mean they were a fusion restaurant. I was completely wrong! Rock A Bangkok is run by a Thai family and I had the pleasure of speaking to the very friendly owner whose home town was actually next to my moms. This restaurant is tucked away in a shopping center which was a little funky to find on the Google GPS. It's a very small restaurant but filled with beautiful Thai decor.
I came in search for lunch specials for my food Instagram and was so happy I did because the portion size was out of control! The lunch specials run Tuesday-Saturday 11:30 am-3:00 pm; served with soup or salad, spring roll, and white rice. My boyfriend ordered the Basil Squid $9.99 which was phenomenal----the sauce flavorful and a large portion of squid that was very satisfying. Go try some authentic Thai food at an affordable...
Read moreAs soon as you walk in you there’s a sense of family warmth. The scent of different spices and herbs enter your nose before the waiter whose hospitality and friendliness makes you feel completely at ease shows you to your table. Once you sit and look around you notice the beautiful decor upon the walls. The restaurant is small but cozy and doesn’t feel cramped at all. Our orders were taken by a different person and this gentleman which he was by every definition of the word ensured we were enjoying our meals. The Tom Kha Gai soup we got with seafood was absolutely delicious. I came with my father and brother and we all cleaned our plates (my brothers chicken curry had the right amount of spice while encapsulating the herbs and spices, my father who ordered drunken noodles but was mistakenly brought Pad Thai thought the meal to be delicious even though he was served the wrong which the employees profusely apologized and tried to make amends [my father thought it looked delicious so he kept it], and I got the house special three karat chicken which was mouth watering). I highly highly recommend this place not just for the food but the service that matches the quality of food that you are...
Read moreSo I stumbled upon this little gem months ago and I cannot get enough. It has officially become my go to spot for anything Thai. They literally have wizards in the kitchen cooking up these dishes because my mouth explodes with flavor and satisfaction every time.
You know when you eat something extremely delicious and you tell your friends that they have to come with you to check it out and when you go with them it doesn't taste the same the second time.... Well, not this place! Without fail I have brought my family and friends to this spot in many separate occasions and every time has been as memorable as the last.
The owners are the nicest people in the planet and the waiters have gone above and beyond to make sure we are taken care off every time. To the point where they knew our order before we even sat down from how often we went.
After coming for well over 6 months here are my top 5 go to dishes.
