Cakeland Bakery — Restaurant in Florida

I've been going to this place for years. It's definitely one of the better bakeries in the area. The staff is friendly, pastries and food offerings are fresh and the prices are reasonable. On the weekends it's best to get there early. They do make things fresh, so if you go too late, they won't have as many options available. Even when it's full, they do their best to move the line quickly. The place isn't huge, so the line can stretch outside easily. They also offer breakfast, but keep in mind that it can take some time to make. While it's made fresh, the burners they use cook really slow. You can easily be waiting upwards of 20 minutes if you order a few of their breakfast specials. I do feel the breakfast is a bit overpriced for what it is. You can get more for less elsewhere. BUT I don't go there for a plate of eggs and bacon. I go for empanadas de jamon y queso, papá rellena, pastelitos de queso, croquetas de la casa, pan de bono, tequeños, tostada cubans y café con leche etc. One honorable mention is that they have some pre-made egg sandwiches on Cuban bread and some on croissants. I have been visiting this bakery for 2 years, amazing place and amazing staff with the exception of a blonde female in her 50’ . I have asked her 3 times for a scramble eggs and she always comes with and actitud and pretexts “ ex: the stuff is broken, there is no eggs or the kitchen is close” . It is very sad that i decided not to go to this place anymore just because this unpleasant and unprofessional person. In addition im not trying to bring down this bakery because the owners are a very kindly persons but to address what is really happening...

So glad we stopped on our long drive back to Charlotte! The Cream cheese Pastelitos and the guava Pastelitos were off the chart!! Absolutely flaky pastry with gorgeous lamination! Beautiful guava flavor!! Ham and cheese pastries were also delicious! We went back in and ordered a box of pastries to take back to North Carolina!

Each pastry was only about $1.10ea (the meat ones were $2).

Coffee con leche was absolutely beautiful!! Not bitter at all!!
