The Tavern On Vets — Restaurant in Kenner

So its 2025 ..... what a difference in 3 years.

Tonight 9/20/25 about 9pm

The server (black hair, chubby with glassss) took about 20 minutes to come take our order. She took EVERYBODY else's order. Finally....with no apology for the wait she takes our order.

She drops off the drinks (really good drink) she disappears behind the bar. She never returned. She didn't check on her customers. She didn't return to ask if we wanted another drink (which we both did) she didnt even tell us her name. My husband kept trying to get her attention to continue trying to spend money in this place. I told him to stop.

15 minutes after trying to get her attention, my food is delivered by a skinny blonde. (Husband's food isn't done yet) she's very polite and professional... however it would take another 15 minutes before my husband's food is delivered.

Neither of us liked the potato salad. ....so we wanted to order the onion rings. It took so long for the food to all come out i didn't want to wait another 30 minutes so technically all we both ate was a steak. Steak was good and tender . Potato salad tasted off like it was spoiled. .... just the worst service I've ever received there.

Ask Brittany if she still works there! We tip no less than $20. But Brittany would actually do her job. Britrany Checked on us regularly....Had another drink ready when she saw us almost empty.

Whoever this female is tonight....she's extremely unconcerned because she didn't check on ANY of her tables and the skinny blonde was too busy playing with her friends at the bar to notice.

2022 Didn't feel like eating Christmas food the night after christmas so we drove to metairie to find some bar food. Glad we stopped here. We got ribeye steak, fries and onion rings. Also got a Malibu rum and coke...hubby got a couple beers..ICE COLD beer!! . Steak was juicy and flavorful. Loved the onion rings. Everything was made fresh and came out piping hot. Bar tenders are funny and gave off the family vibe.... and I can't help but drsire to come back to try the burger and more hilarious...

I'll start off with saying that I don't normally leave reviews but I just threw up what I ate so it feels like I should share my experience. Went in tonight with my sister after work to grab some food before going home. The bartender seemed really bothered that we were even there and was very rude. I asked if they had an ingredient needed to make a drink I wanted and instead of just saying no she looked at me like I had 3 heads, rolled her eyes and gave a smart ass response. The guy next to us lit up a cigarette and pulled out a McDonald's burger (we should have known by that but alass) Despite this, we ordered a sprite and a twisted tea to keep it easy and two burgers medium with a side of fries and onion rings. The burgers came out well done and were more like hockey pucks even tho the guy cooking them confirmed we wanted them medium. We had to flag down the bartender after more than one try to get condiments and a refill. We were never checked back on. The food was terrible. I only ate a couple bites of my burger and the fries and onion rings tasted like old grease. Honestly had we not been exhausted and hungry from working a long shift we would have just sent it back and left. But now I'm home sick because I didn't. Lesson learned I guess. Better ways to spend...

I’ve been to this spot a few times now so I think it’s about time to talk about it. ToV is one of those spots that I tend to love because it’s just like a locals type dive bar-ish spot with good food at good prices and cold drinks. They play all the sports on TV’s all around the bar and they have a pool table and three dart boards.

I’ve had three different burgers in my three trips in but I’ve also tried bites of the ribeye wrap, fresh tuna, pork chop, loaded tater tots, etc. Everything I tried was good at the very least, most things very good. If you’re looking for flashy or upscale dining though…go somewhere else. This is just real food by real people done well.

The one criticism I will leave is that they would greatly benefit from a better roll for the burgers. I enjoy them cooked medium rare - medium and if you don’t eat them quickly the bun will start to deteriorate. Taking on the cost for a few more cents for a stronger bun would really take this to the next level.
