My original review is left unedited below this one. Originally I gave this place four stars. There is a specific reason why I'm giving this place one star. My go-to Korean restaurant is the Korea House. When Gogi first opened, the food was really good; you can look below this review to see how I felt about the food the first time. Everything was tasty and prepared the way I feel Korean food should be prepared. lived in Osan Korea and ate the local food on a regular basis. In other words, I know how authentic Korean food tastes. One of my favorite dishes of comfort food is bibimbap. That is my go-to dish whenever I go to a Korean restaurant. After my third visit to Gogi, I felt the food was lacking in everything. Something was off. One of the side dishes they give you is called Korean potato salad. It is literally unflavored mashed potatos. That's it. I mean, if that doesn't speak Korean food , I don't know what does. One of the other side dishes was a pickle that came out of a Wickles jar. One freaking pickle . Now, let's move on to tonight. Korea House was closed, and I thought, "Let me give Gogi one more try." This would be my 5th time returning, and I thought maybe, just maybe things would be better. I ordered my favorite food which is it bibimbap. The stone pot came to me warm not hot. The rice was unflavored. There was no sesame oil, and whatever vegetables they had in there were terrible and had a metallic taste. I could not put more than two spoons into my mouth before I had to send it back. I have never in 25 years of eating Korean food sent anything back. The bulgogi look like chopped hamburger meat and a point tasting it realized that it was not flavored or seasoned at all. And on top of that, the bulgogi was cold. This restaurant had every opportunity to be a great restaurant, but there is something lacking in the department of flavor and food preparation. Korea House is the place to go for Korean food. They stepped up their game when Gogi opened. Korea House will always be the place to go get the right Korean food. I ended up sending my food back. So, my friend and I decided to go try the Korean barbecue place uptown in New Orleans on Magazine Street. I ordered bibimbap there, and It was delicious. As far as Gogi, they need to fire that chef and bring in some real traditional Korean chefs that know how to prepare Korean food correctly. That Bulgogi was one of the worst things I've ever eaten in my life. Incidentally, right before we left we asked a few other people who were eating in there what they thought of the food, and they all said that something was off. Some people just eat and pay without complaining. I couldn't do that - just eat something I don't like and then pay for it. I couldn't do that with this food. Gogi has failed on so many levels. And I consider myself a connoisseur of Korean food.

I don't typically give any restaurant 5 stars unless it's an upscale, food network type of place. So I want you to keep in mind that for me to give a restaurant 4 stars, it's saying that I think it's one of the best out there. A bit pricey, but well worth what you pay for. The Kimbap is simply delicious and a must have. I recommend the Bibimbap (a delicious rice dish with beef and vegetable served with an egg on top in a very hot stone pot) and an order of Thuk Poki (Spicy Rice Cakes with fish cakes). Talk about comfort food!!!!! Also, if you have never had bulgogi, you HAVE to try it! This place is one of the best Korean joints I've ever been to. In my opinion, it has The Korea house beat - and I really love the Korea House. This is a place that will make you smile as you eat. The food is THAT DAMNED GOOD! I will...
Read moreUse to love this place would go a few times a month and always looked forward to the food but now something has gone very very wrong !! Not sure if they have changed owners or what? We went for dinner use to they would bring out the Banchan when they came to take your drink order we received none asked the waitress if we could get some she brought out enough for 1 person then it was only kimchi, 3 lil Fish cakes (which are horrible) and seaweed which tasted moldy, so I asked if we could get cucumbers, dicon radishes & bean sprouts which is what I was use to getting along with the other items we were informed they were out of all of them if you go back and look at old pick then at the new pics of the banchan they are serving it on 3 compartment plates instead of the small individual dishes they use to be served in it sloppy and the food even looks different, so we orders dumplings for an appetizers, pork katsu and bulgogi when our meal came out it wasn't served with white rice but served with rice and some kind of brown Peas that tasted like dirt I asked if I could get plain white rice ( they use to have really great plain white rice I would always order an extra bowl there was just something about the rice it was always perfect, the server apologized said that this was all they were serving per the owner now then the pork katsu was so over cooked hard and dried out it wasn't eatable , the bulgogi was full of chunks of fat , gristle and about half a serving compared to what they use to serve and don't complain its useless and they don't care , I understand food shortage and price increase but they should keep some consistency in the cooking& flavor or for warn people so they can choose whether they want to spend the high prices they charged to eat there or not the food is subpar at best now not worth what they are charging for sure , we're looking for a new place for Korean food not going back sure going to miss the way it use...
Read moreCame here a handful of times the past couple of years, and I think ownership has changed. Some of the dishes do not look or taste the same as before, but it’s still good. My go-to dishes are corn cheese, kimbap, tteokbboki, regular mandu, tofu stew, galbi, bulgogi, and seafood pancakes. Everything has been good until the last few visits. Kimbap seems to be less flavorful and appealing. Tteokbboki serving size and sauce have depleted. It used to be A LOT when they first opened. Seafood pancake was not good at all. Too much batter. Squid was good but not good enough for me to keep eating it. It used to be a thin pancake that was crispy. Now it’s a thick, fluffy pancake that has too much flour and no flavor. Most likely will not order again. Tofu stew was amazing though! They were very generous with the tofu so I appreciated that. Galbi and short ribs were also really delicious even though the flavors aren’t the same. Also, no more sesame seeds garnished on top. Only meat and onions. BUT I do like how they give seaweed with it! That’s new and a nice added touch. Service was relatively decent for having only one person managing the front and floor. She answered calls, took orders, and served the entire restaurant. Must have had only one chef too because our food came out in increments so it kind of sucked not being able to eat everything at once. Our meat came out last so it was hard trying to eat it by itself when the stew, tteokbboki, etc. were not paired with it. They’re kind of stingy with the ban chan too. It was a party of four, and the first few rounds of it barely had anything on the plates. Pictured was maybe the second to last round of ban chan when I think the waitress got tired of having to keep refilling it. She was nice about it though. I still like this place a lot. Just be careful with operating hours. I feel like they’re...
