Dining at Golden Dragon presents an intriguing mix of experiences that seem to cater to all the senses, with a particular dish, General Tso's chicken, offering a curious study in contrasts. From the moment you step into the restaurant, you're enveloped in an ambiance that's both welcoming and elegantly adorned, hinting at the culinary journey that awaits. The staff at Golden Dragon are commendably attentive, striking the perfect balance between being readily available and respectfully unobtrusive, which greatly enhances the dining experience. The General Tso's chicken, a centerpiece dish for many who frequent Golden Dragon, was a fascinating study in contrasts. On one hand, the chicken itself boasted a delightfully crispy exterior, encasing tender meat that should have been the perfect vessel for the sauce's fiery sweetness. However, this dish seemed to straddle the realms of both hot and cold—literally. Parts of the chicken were unexpectedly cool, suggesting a lapse in timing or perhaps an uneven exposure to heat, which detracted from the overall enjoyment. This inconsistency was surprising, given the dish's reputation as a beloved staple of the menu. However, any culinary missteps with the main course were largely mitigated by the excellence of the accompaniments. The tea served was of particular note; it was steeped to perfection, embodying a soothing warmth and depth of flavor that could only be described as a hug in a cup. It served as a perfect palate cleanser and a comforting counterpoint to the meal's earlier inconsistencies. Moreover, the overall environment of Golden Dragon played a significant role in the dining experience. The decor, characterized by tasteful decorations and a harmonious color scheme, created a serene dining environment that was both inviting and reflective of the restaurant's cultural heritage. It was clear that every detail, from the soft lighting to the meticulously set tables, was carefully considered to enhance the...
Read moreWe will never go back here. Ever. We were frequent customers but not anymore. This experience was more than awful. We got a dinner plate & added egg rolls. The fried items tasted like they were fried in old oil & the inside of the egg rolls were wet. The beef & veggies were extremely salty. Just not good in any way. We couldn’t even finish the plate nor did we take it home. The dinner plate was around $15.80 & the egg rolls were $7.75, which equals $23.55. Tax should be around $2-$3. So how does my total equal $33? An extra plate of chicken & another egg roll that I didn’t get was added on. So we were charged for 3 egg rolls & only received 2. When I brought up the issue to the attention of the waitress, she said I told her to do that. All I said to her was I wanted to add the two pork egg rolls from the appetizer section. Not extra chicken or 3 egg rolls, etc. I wasn’t rude, I was just trying to have her explain the extra charges. I told her that was incorrect & She began to argue with us, got an attitude & couldn’t handle it like an adult. This woman was actually arguing with us, getting loud & the manager made her step back. She still wouldn’t stop. Highly unprofessional & just plain ridiculous. They ended up taking $1 off the meal. I was ready to just leave at that point since the waitress wouldn’t stop yelling. No customer service whatsoever. Instead of just solving the issue, they lost frequent customers over it. We’ll gladly support other establishments in the area that take care of...
Read morethe waitstaff is kind, friendly, patient - we ordered and ate our food but listened to some really over privileged crappier customers being horrible about their ordering family syle asking for no less than 4 substitutions, we knew immediately these customers aren't gonna tip especially after they would cut the waitstaff off mid sentence to say about their substitutions "they let us substitute before" like petulant children.
the food is good Americanized chinese food. The hot and sour soup cleared our sinuses up and thats the way we like it. The BBQ pork is tender and moist with great flavor.
the price was right, I was grateful for that.
lots of seating space and options including a family style seating with a lazy susan in the middle of the table for ease of sharing dishes.
Advice - TIP YOUR WAITSTAFF if you are asking for substitutions, they have to bring this to the back and face the chefs, so do your part and do right by them. Their wages aren't so high that they got all day for that picky crap.
We will come back Double Dragon, we hope you pay your staff well, they...
