This is the most dissapointing experience I've had in a very long time and I'm very shocked to say it is this place. After hearing so many good things about them, I wanted to give them a shot.
I was really craving something along the lines of orange chicken, so I looked at the menu and ordered the Honey Garlic Chicken. I asked if I could substitute the rice for chow mein and the server said no. Cool, I order a side. She went off on something after I said that and me being totally blasted after a 14 hour workday, I spaced off onto the table and said screw it. I'll just get the Honey Garlic Chicken.
The food came out very fast, and that was the first red flag. I bit into the chicken and some of the pieces were rougher than usual. I had to pick and choose, which for me is ridiculous.
Second, never got a refill on my water. Never got visited while eating. Got handed a box and a bill with a fortune cookie. That was it. Glad that's over. Atmosphere would've been nice away from the big group of five they sat me close to despite being empty tonight. Should've taken that as another red flag....
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to buy dinner for friends that were down on their luck. I called several restaurants and asked if the couple could come in and I would provide a credit card number to pay for their meal. They all told me that they could not do this, as they couldn’t take a payment over the phone. Yet they all do whenever you call and place an order to be picked up by yourself or Doordash. Well Shanghai came to my rescue. They told me to have the couple come in and to call them when they got there and she ( Sandy ) would take my credit card number. So simple and easy. And because this was during the time that we were having the single digit weather, I was happy to be able to get my friends out of the cold weather for a hot meal. My hat goes off to Shanghai for their trust and generosity to me. My friends actually texted me saying that they ate lunch and had enough leftovers for their dinner later that day. Thank you Sandy and Shanghai. I will forever sing...
Read moreThis place has been 100% Chinese-Laotian-Korean owned and operated since I moved here a couple decades ago. All that time it has remained the same reliably delicious and filling food at an affordable price range. I have never once been displeased. The great thing about their primary language is that you could speak as fast or as mumbly as you do on the phone and they'd still understand you clear as day. I REALLY appreciate that as someone with phonecall anxiety. They will accommodate even the most picky of children's orders too. Once, I had a to go order and got home and found that they'd given me TONS of extra food. I'm guessing as an accident but they definitely didn't charge me for more than I'd actually ordered. The portions are so huge I never finish a full order and almost every thing tastes great leftover. This is another place that would be a loss if it closed. If double dragon or this place ever closed, I'd be depressed. Well, more...
