I've been thinking off and on about my visit to Wake Up Call yesterday. I haven't been back to that kiosk since shortly after it was sold by a local company to Black Rock due to an extremely egregious interaction with a newly promoted manager. The benefit of that experience is that I spent far less money on coffees.
Forward a year or two ...
Some time recently I noticed the name on the coffee kiosk had changed again. The location is convenient for me. I decided to give it another try.
The public facing menu gave only the names of some house drinks. While some were self-explanatory, others were not. It should be said, I visited this kiosk at a typically slow time of day for a coffee business. There was no one else in line. I sensed the barista was wanting me to get to a decision quickly. Seconds later he stated that he had a timer. Initially I thought he was kidding. He wasn't.
I believe this is another indication of the disintegration of human interaction in our country ... our world? This barista was uncomfortable giving me a few extra minutes to consider my options because he was on a customer interaction timer. I have felt sad over this since I bought that coffee yesterday.
I won't be going back. I don't have a quarrel with the barista. I can't embrace the corporate culture that straitjackets human...
Read moreI am passing through (July 24th 10:30am) and just ordered a drink and they forgot to put the flavor in it which is kind of lame cuz I just drove 7 hours and decided to treat myself to a sweet treat, as i have 7 hours left in my drive still... My treat was not sweet LOL. The woman working the bar with the brown hair and the tattoos seems like she was in a really bad mood. The man working the window was really nice to me though. I honestly feel like because the girl was not being that nice in a sense of completely not even engaging in my conversation and literally ignoring me, that her bad energy leached into my drink and maybe that's why my drink doesn't taste that good. I fully think that if somebody's not in a good mood at work and they're making food/ drinks it's definitely going to have a big impact on what they're making. I would just recommend Maybe trying a drink without flavor, but then again the only reason I go to a place like this is literally for...
Read moreThe staff at this location are outstanding. I went for a coffee this morning. Today is my birthday so I was looking forward to chatting up my favorite baristas. The windows are all papered over inside. Outside there were flyers, taped to the windows, fluttering slightly in the morning breeze. It seems there is a need for Roasters to negotiate fairly with their employees. I've known this Roasters crew for years. I believe them. Please help promote fair compensation. Roasters is not the only company needing to reprioritize their wealth acquisition strategies. It's a huge problem across our entire country. I see this as one place where I can support fair treatment for workers. I can sacrifice and save some money. It doesn't take all that long to make my own coffee at home while making a statement Roasters coffee will hear as their bottom line...
