Chipotle Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Kensington

To whom is my concern April 12th, 2013

On April 8, 2013 I came to Chipotle for my third interview. The interview went fine until the conclusion in which I had to shake the interviewer’s hand. Since I am of Muslim religion I could not shake the interviewer’s hand, Alexander (known as Alex), and I apologized as kind as I could. Alexander then added, “If you work here, you need to take off your headscarf.” I replied that it was a religious necessity. He then continued to say, “We will not hire you if you wear the headscarf.” and did not provide a valid reason to this claim. I applied for a crew member position and the position itself does not have any requirements that cannot be met if the applicant is wearing a headscarf. When working with food, one must wear a hairnet and I obliged on top of my headscarf, the goal being the same that no hair will fall into the food. Alexander however refused by request and insisted that I had to take it off. I find this claim by Chipotle Mexican Grill both discriminatory and unlawful. As you can see it is not an issue if I qualify for the position, but rather an issue against the wearing of my headscarf. Under State Government Article, Section 20-602 it states that “all manufactures are to assure all persons equal opportunity in receiving employment...regardless of race,color, RELIGION..” Does this STATE law not apply to Chipotle especially the Kensington, MD store? The law has been broken by this assistant manager and I demand for reparations. This violates the beliefs of America, its constitution, and any morals of this so called assistant manager. On Chipotle’s website it states that the company “treats animals with dignity and respect.” If only this were the case for its future employees, Am I, a human, to be treated with less dignity and respect than a mere animal? This assistant manager deserves to be fired for violating state law, and if he is not, I will lose all faith within the United States justice system.

As of May 3rd 2024, I will never eat Chipotle again in my life. I ordered dinner for tonight. A burrito bowl because I had some smaller tortillas I needed to use up I didn't really like the taste of them so just wanted to get them out of the way. I bought them for wraps to use with sandwiches but not good. I was late to make dinner tonight so I thought Chipotle would be a nice treat in a good way to use those up but boy was I wrong. I got the al pastor chicken with a double portion and my God I swear I got less than a regular portion so unless something's changed I'm guessing something may be changed or I got shafted I spent four extra dollars on a double portion of meat and I swear to God I got less than half a cup It was pathetic. I got the sauces as a side so I could control how they were used and I just I was disappointed with the size of those as well. I think my burrito order cuz I got some queso, came to something like 15 bucks and it was the most pathetic burrito bowl I've ever had from Chipotle and really that I've ever had anywhere. I'm beyond disappointed and Chipotle has lost a customer for life and I will tell friends this whether they want to eat there or not but I'm going to share my experience because I'm very disappointed. Everybody's talking about McDonald's being too expensive well Chipotle's on there now too It's very easy to rack up $20 at that store and get very little food. Fact of the matter is I am in a bigger city I should have never settled for Chipotle I should have went to an authentic Mexican restaurant and got better food and more food for the price. If I could give this Chipotle 0 stars I definitely would! First let me start by saying this the guacamole wasn’t fresh it was turning brown how can they even think they could serve someone that nasty brown guacamole???? Second if I’m paying for the sides fill my container up don’t give me a drop of sour cream and tomato salsa wasn’t even halfway full. Then my daughter orders her rice bowl with chicken and lettuce it was 2 bites and she was finished with it not even exaggerating I told them to put more on mine! Ridiculous! The lettuce tasted freezer burnt it had a very funny taste to it. I threw my bowl out paid 40 something dollars for both bowls. Just to throw one of them out. My daughter was hungry after she ate her entire small 2 bites of her chicken and rice bowl. This was yesterday July 05th. 2025. The lady who served us was very skinny which explains why our portion size was extremely small!!!! I never ever had a bad experience at Chipotle’s until this one on Connecticut Ave in Kensington plus that place was so dirty on the inside the bathroom was very disgusting they obviously clean it. The women’s bathroom was the only bathroom working so the men’s bathroom was out of order they had to use the women’s bathroom so pee was all over the seats it smelled like strong urine very disgusting and please put paper towels in the bathroom and seat covers stop being so cheap!!!
