I loved the food here loved the service until I went her just recently. My son who is three and newly implanted with cochlear implants made one and I mean ONE loud noise. It was actually kind of a screech when these two old ladies were ordering coffee. when the server asked what he could get them the one lady said very rude and loud. "You could get that boy to be quiet". She was extremely rude and the server said nothing. Absolutely nothing. I told me son to be quiet and tried to explain to her but she was still really really rude and had ugly face. I was so furious. I spent over $50 there, took my food home with my 19 year old son, my 9 year old daughter and 3 year old boy. I filled out take out boxes with tears in my eyes. This restaurant should say NO CHILDREN or they should have damn well stuck up for me. They should have told those ladies that sit on a Sunday afternoon to the left right when you walk in; that I was a paying customer and children are welcome. I will NEVER EVER go here again because they let their customers be treated so poorly. I explained to the waiter when I left and let him know it wasn't his fault their were so rude but it should not be tolerated. Those old ladies only ordered coffee too. I wish I would have gotten their ignorant faces on a picture so I could blast them everywhere. They obviously live in a perfect world where everything is black and white. I suggest if you think it is okay to treat customers terrible by others go, if not, STAY...
Read moreIn a nice way having breakfast at Mary's Fine Foods was like stepping back in time. Wall paper, wood paneling, a small counter with a couple spots to sit at, locals from the neighborhood diners talking ungaurdedly about apartment prices in the area, untrendy standard 1970's or 1980s style 10 oz diner coffee cups that was not once left empty. Not lowdly , not with bleach smell. the place was very clean. It was dry and tidy. The older well maintained and balanced legged table was very clean, ready for me to sit down without me having to ask for a towel or quietly tolerate an under attended too table. The fork and knife on the single paper napkin were just where they should be. The salt shaker I did use and the pepper shaker I did use were both clean, not grubby. This is the kind of old school place my dad might like to go to if he were still around. I had biscuits, gravy, over medium eggs, and bacon. It was good. Standard. Almost no frills, and that's another reason I liked it. And the one frill was a single orange wedge that appeared to be fresh cut and was fresh in its taste. It might be a nice place to have breakfast with an old friend if you're in the...
Read moreMary's has become a regular breakfast joint for my family. It's a classic breakfast diner, complete with counter-side seating. The food is just what your looking for...good, standard menu. Tastes good, just the right portion size. It's why we keep going back. The staff - the same two ladies every time I've been there - are good. One is courteous with a ubiquitous smile, the other is your full-service diner waitress with the sardonic sense of humor. They'll both take good care of you. Nothing special about the atmosphere... it's a diner. It's clean, the tables don't wobble, and the fabric on the booth seating is intact. So, that rates it higher than a lot of the diners in the region! Pricing is reasonable. You get what you pay for in terms of portion size...but you can count of the food being at least as good as it's priced. The one catch: the wait. We've learned to be patient with the kitchen. Drinks are brought and orders are taken in a reasonable time, then we wait. It can take 30 minutes from order to eat. So, bring an appetite and a good book or good conversation and...
