I am extremely disappointed in this restaurant after always being treated well. I arrived at Yoshi Express tonight to order steak and chicken hibachi. I was told it would be 15 minutes, but of course I know sometimes orders take longer. Not a problem! However, about 5 minutes after I ordered, about 10 people walked in WITH NO MASKS ON (even though it CLEARLY states that masks are required) and they each ordered and sat down to eat. 20 minutes passed and I noticed that the people sitting were being served. The whole table was served and some of them ordered the exact same thing that I ordered because I heard the manager call off the names of the entrees. Why was I still waiting?! Here is the kicker, even after the entire table was served I still was not given any indication that my food was ready. I decided to get up out of my seat and wait for others to order in front of me before I could finally speak with the cashier. She said your name is Mia right? I said yes and then she proceeds to pull a bag from the counter and hand to me. I demanded my money back because it is ridiculous that an entire table of folks were able to be seated and served before anyone thought to even look my way. The most insulting thing about it all was that the manager had the nerve to tell me that I couldn't get any refunds in the future on food. He said all this to say that I was sitting there waiting on a free meal which I do not need because I get up every morning to go to work like anyone else. I told him not to worry about that ever happening again because I will NEVER set foot in this establishment again! 35 TO 40 MINUTE WAIT ON SOME FOOD THAT WAS CASUALLY handed to me after tripping over yourselves to serve others is not acceptable. I'll take my money somewhere else. I guess I was the wrong color. Black money isn't...
Read moreThe first time I had Yoshi Express, I ordered the Banh Mi and loved it. I have ordered it several times since and it's always hit or miss. One time there was hardly any meat and veggies and it was mostly bread. Also, there are several menus posted all over the internet. Their latest menu posted on Facebook says the Banh Mi is $11. I placed a take out order the other day and was surprised they are now charging $18 for a small sandwich compared to any other take out sandwich shop that would charge no more than $10 for twice the size of this. The meat this time was definitely not filet minon as advertised. The meat was tough and the marinade was off putting. It looked like dirt/mud water. I want to have the same experience as the first time I tried it, but there is always something off. The Yoshi chips were inedible on my last visit as they weren't fried long enough and I couldn't even bite into them as they were chewy, rather than crispy. The spring rolls were good, but the sauce was super oily this time. Last time we placed an order over the phone and my husband went to pick it up only to find out our order was never made, so he waited over 45 mins for subpar food. Once again, I can't trust that what I order will be the same every time. If they are going to charge over $18 for a sandwich, they should consider their competition and aim to make consistently good food and have clearly advertised pricing instead of 8 different menus out there all with different pricing. Unfortunately, they have lost my business and I will go elsewhere where I trust what I am getting and know it's going to be good every...
Read moreDefinitely a "two-fer" experience for us - a first and last. My teenage son LOVES sushi, so we were excited to try this place not far from us. We arrived to an empty restaurant with one employee. He was polite and let us know he would be with us soon. The restaurant was clean, which was nice, but very barren and only a few small tables. After we ordered, several other people came in for take-out orders, which made me feel better about the promise of the food. All our food came out after about 25 minutes (a long wait for a restaurant of this style, but we were patient and understanding as there was only one staff member there until about 5 minutes before we got our food) and it is safe to say our tempura green beans were the best out of everything we got. My son's two sushi rolls looked absolutely dry - like parched, arid sushi. His shrimp tempura roll was literally only unseasoned fried shrimp (he unrolled one piece to try just the shrimp), rice, and nori, while the California roll was "better, but not good." The rolls were very small in size. He usually easily finishes all but two to three pieces of much larger rolls from other restaurants and he left probably 75% of his food behind on this trip. I ordered chicken pad thai and it was the dryest pad thai I have ever gotten. I really am not sure there was any sauce on the noodles - both appearance wise and flavor wise. Was it the worst food we've ever had? No. Was it worth the nearly $50 for dinner? Not at all. We'll spend a little more and drive farther for better quality food next time we're looking for...
