Service was not very good. The server made a mistake twice with my wife’s breakfast. Server disappeared for a bit, and another lady came up to us telling us that she was dealing with an emergency, then that server came back and explained to us how she was on her fifth shift and so on, And that it ain’t no emergency and just her getting coffee, which is fine. All is OK so far.
They brought out our food, I ordered an egg and ham and cheese Omelette, which was OK. Now onto my wife’s order. Disaster. They brought out a pita something or another, when she clearly ordered the Texas toast Benedict! And I remember her clearly saying that she was going to order that and ordered it very clearly to the waitress. I only know that because I was going to order that and I was excited to pick off her plate.
SO, my food just sat there while we waited for her replacement food. When they brought out the replacement, it wasn’t even the right entrée!! Again!. They brought out a standard eggs Benedict with an English muffin really disappointing.
As I appreciate her honesty, she was just very exhausted or not all there to provided my wife the right entrée , on two separate occasions . And maybe she should start riding down orders if she can’t remember what customers are ordering when she’s exhausted
I really wanted to give this place a chance because I know it’s been around for a long time.
I purchased the souvenir mug and I want to try the big Mrs Mac’s next time, And for lunch this time. Try to give them...

My husband and I have visited many times. This is a MUST stop every time we visit the Florida Keys, and I think one time we drove down just because we had a craving for it, drove right back home after. I have included photos of the place because it is very easy to miss but just remember MM 99.4 (translation for tourists: a little north of mile marker 99 which is how we give directions in the Florida Keys with Key West being MM 0, notice the correlation to the address). It is one of those "dives with great food" type of place. We plan our trips around this, knowing we plan to make this stop.
Food. This is a great way to experience the flavors of the Florida Keys as stated in the title. A great way to experience seafood if you are from up north. Florida, especially the Keys, does it right. I am so spoiled that I no longer eat seafood in those states that usually bread and fry it. If that is your only experience, then prepare yourself for a true seafood experience. And most importantly, the seafood is so fresh.
Service. Always friendly. They can get VERY busy and it is not very big.
Ambiance. Like I said earlier, "divey". If I had not previously experienced the food, I may otherwise be put off by it. Maybe not ideal for a romantic meal.
We did not order desert this time but suggest Key Lime Pie (if you have never had it, is one of those tart deserts). You will experience the best Key Lime Pies in the Keys and this is one...
Read moreWe drove from Miami to Key Largo in search of the “world famous” Key Lime pie at Mrs. Mac’s Kitchen. The kitschy and picturesque sign out front hooked us in. The building is very small, as is the parking lot, but that neon sign had us leaping out of our car with excitement for what was to come!
We sat at the bar and ordered a slice of their Famous Key Lime Pie and Hawaiian Wedding cake. While the service was nothing to write home about, the dessert was worth the stop. We left feeling like the only people inside that got great service were the locals. We ate our pie in silence while listening to the bartenders and servers laugh and discuss local island beeswax. The older male bartender wasn’t happy to be there and made no attempt to hide his displeasure, but even his sour attitude couldn’t steal my Hawaiian Wedding Cake bliss.
Pros: Fun iconic sign for pictures, great dessert and magnificent water views on the drive from Miami. The bathroom has wonderful, island made essential oil and sea salt hand scrub that smells like Key Lime Pie or tropical Coconut. It made my hands feel like silk and smell like the beach.
Cons: The service was horrible and, when we did ask for help with a drink refill or napkin request, it wasn’t offered with kindness. No matter how delectable the pie may be, the horrible customer service is enough to make me pass it by next time around. There are plenty of wonderful shops and restaurants on the keys that are appreciative to have...
