I just want to preface that I rarely write reviews, nonetheless a negative one. Before I ordered from the restaurant, I did extensive research on what African food I should try and I came to the conclusion that I should order Beef Egusi Sauce w/ Fufu and Beef Ogbono Sauce w/ Fufu from this restaurant. My sister and I were excited to try it out, just to find out our food was completely inedible. As a person who is not a picky eater and just eats any food placed in front of her, it was genuinely hard for me to swallow. I called the restaurant expressing that I did not like the food because the food was completely inedible. I asked them if they could recook the food or recommend me another popular item in the menu. Unfortunately, they don't do refunds or exchanges, and wasn't open-minded to compromise. Although I did not have any malicious intent towards their restaurant and wanted to give this experience a second chance, the manager was very rude. I was accused of leaving a review that was not even mine and not doing prior research before ordering. They said that they would forward my phone number to the owner of the restaurant and I have never gotten a call back since.
TLDR: In my experience, the food was bad, customer service was worse. I was open-minded for a compromise, and got shut down immediately.
EDIT: (Response to the Restaurant's response to this review) I was told from the manager that I would get a call back from the OWNER of the restaurant, not the manager of the restaurant again. Still haven' t talked to the owner. When I got a call back from the manager again, she accused me of leaving a review that was not mine (which was my sister's, and I did not influence her opinion in any way) and hung up on me. No, I was NOT told to come back to try their food, I was told straight up that I could not get a refund or exchange. I was NEVER offered a remake of my order free of cost. I don't want to replace my meal if it means paying for it again, that would simply waste my time and money. "I simply believe this was a miscommunication and differences of opinion." No, I clearly communicated that I wanted to give this restaurant a second chance and see if they could make my order a second time or recommend me another popular food item. I was defending you for goodness sake and gave every negative review of this restaurant the benefit of the doubt. But no, the manager was just rude to me. My sister and I only took 2 bites of the food and threw it away, safe to say it was inedible. This restaurant does more damage control than actually improve their food and customer service.
PS. Very rude to call my sister close-minded when she was open-minded enough to try...
Read moreWe came in for the first time after getting recommendations for this place. We were overjoyed to experience eating our native food as a family together. We normally cook at home, but we needed a break. First of all, the customer service/hospitality was a bit off and totally caused us to be a bit frustrated which set the foundation of our being able to enjoy the food.
The woman serving our food was nonchalant and dull.
It wasn't until 10 minutes later did she come back to tell us that the chef wasn't in after taking our order. She said the chef would be in, in 2 minutes after taking our order as she then proceeded to give us THREE cold meat pies for a party of SEVEN to compensate for the wait. .....strike 1
Let me say that the food was ok. We had the ogbono with plantain fufu. We were given our food with each person receiving their food every 6-10minutes apart from another..everyone got their food separately...........the issuing of everyone's plate minutes apart rather than at the same time caused everyone to already be agitated and fidgeting because we wanted to eat together.... strike 2
The last 2 plates were issued with regular yam fufu because they ran out of plantain fufu even though everyone wanted plaintain fufu....The server didn't tell us beforehand so we were forced to just accept it because of how long it took for the food to be given in the first place .okay.. strike 3
We also had moi moi which still had water in the bottom of the contain. It was soggy at the bottom so we just ate the top of it. . . fourth strike
As we were leaving, the server paid us no mind after we paid for the food. No "Thanks for coming" or "See you next time".
The experience was just totally.....off.
Let's just say, the odd of coming back possible but slim.
Did I mention that I almost choked on the meat. I...
Read moreWorst meal ever arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Hard earned Money wasted, just like that. 😫 Beans was watery, the ogbono looked solid and not tasty at all. Amala (solid) was not good at all. Plantain was soaked in oil. Stew looked like a tomato stew( found tomato and onion skin inside) Rice was hard like it was microwaved for a very long time. I doubt the owner/cook are even Nigerian. This is a Caribbean restaurant. Pls stop deceiving people! This restaurant is not owned by a Nigerian. Pls don’t forget Change your cook/chef (Hire a Nigerian cook as a chef/cook for Gods sake) 👩🍳 Will def not return. ✌🏾 You’re welcome
Update - Hi business owner! if you claim you are really from Lagos,Nigeria, you should come out and prove your identity to us. I have read a lot of reviews here from your business and I was expecting a very unprofessional response from you madam/sir owner. You’re not a true representation of the culture and the food you sell and to all that are still going to patronize your business after reading all the reviews should be ready to face whatever is coming to them. I have said my piece of mind. I hope you will hire a real Nigerian cook to help your business thrive and stop arguing/fight with customers that leaves a honest review on your business page. People are spending their hard earned money for God sakes. The food is...
