This foodie went shopping for a new dining experience at a locally owned restaurant and stumbled upon Quisqueya Family Restaurant in Killeen. Upon walking in I was promptly greeted by the owner, Mr. David. I told him i was a first timer. He immediately began sharing the menu of the day, a decadent cuisine drawing inspiration from his hometown in the Dominican Republic. He offered me a sampling platter filled with some amazing Oxtail and delicious Chicken, both resting in their own bed of pallet tantalizing sauces. Combined with Spanish Rice and Beans, Plantains, and a Side Salad, I was immediately drawn in on the first bite. With each subsequent taste, I found myself immersed wonderful island experience, as Caribbean music rained down from the ceiling’s speakers and the warmth of the decor set the stage. Quisqueya’s establish is small but mighty, and definitely 💯 worth your dining experience. If you eat there once you will return, I know I did!! Goat is on...

So let me start with the food. Freaking amazing. So good. My first time having Dominican food and I loved it. The guy that checked us out was really friendly and was eager to talk about the food available on the line. The restaurant itself could use some work. The floor was sticky, the chairs were hard and uncomfortable. The female staff was no exactly welcoming, no smiles and didn't speak to us. And probably the worse thing was the the roach that quietly trotted the wood beam next to the table where we were eating (he was at eye level). Would I eat here again? More than likely.... But probably for takeout...

This Dominican restaurant is secretly dominating the Restaurant scene here, do not sleep on this place. Make sure you come with an empty stomach. The portion sizes are great. The prices are fair. The staff is so friendly. And the taste… oh the taste, so delicious. They also have fresh juices, I had Passion Fruit, it was so fresh and delicious. Also had the Mangu plate with some Goat on the side, everything tasted like homemade. We will be back! This is one of the handful of hidden...
