I normally don't leave bad reviews, but this place is not one of my favourites. The food was pretty good but the service was lacking. The owner made it seem like that we needed to order from the items she had readily available and that it was an issue to have her make something that wasn't on hand already. The disgruntled sigh and eye roll I received after choosing a shrimp dish she had to make has made me reluctant to ever return here. It wasn't even late in the day, it was early afternoon. I don't know why it was an issue. It might have been because she had friends in there that she was conversing with and she had to stop talking to them while she made my boyfriend's and I food. His curry goat was pretty good, but there was more bone than actual meat. I had the buttered shrimp, it wasn't bad but NOWHERE near as gobsmackingly delicious as Chef Ras. This is another hidden gem. From the time you walk in, you feel like family, and it's the spot to be. I ordered 2 of their lunch specials, which are from Monday - Friday 11am to 1pm. I got the Jerk Chicken and Curry Chicken as well as two beef patties and cocoa bread. The Jerk Chicken was perfectly season and juicy as can be. The sauce that it came with..... OMG, I went back for more sauce. The Curry Chicken had a nice kick. The more you eat it, the more you feel it getting hotter. Again, it was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Now the best part beef patty and cocoa bread. Ooooweee, you can tell they are homemade and not store brought. There is so much flavor in the meat with a slightly spicy tang. The crust was flaky but still stayed together. The cocoa bread absolutely completed it even more even though it's not needed, but I like to eat it together. 1Luv has the MOST AUTHENTIC JAMAICAN FOOD on this side of Texas! I came one time for the steamed red snapper and been going back for it EVERYDAY since and I bring other US Army soldiers with me EVERYTHING is good the brown stew snapper, steamed snapper, escovich snapper, curry shrimp and the curry shrimp are NOT small baby shrimp like those other restaurants serve my battles LOVE the jerk chicken, oxtails, brown stew chicken and the curry chicken!
