Brunch somewhere new was the goal. I found this place from a simple search on the Google maps. My niece and I pulled up to the front and was greeted by a young man out front. I'm not quite sure what to call him in the middle of the day on a Sunday. On a Friday night, he'd be a bouncer/doorman/screener. He asked us if this was our first visit and once we confirmed his suspicion, he gave us a quick spiel. The music was playing out front to lay down the vibe of the establishment that we were about to enter. I liked that. The inside presented clean lines and a dark ambience. We were immediately greeted and seated. I liked the lamps on each table that served a dual purpose. Not only do they add to the overall aesthetics of the place BUT, they are also used as a nonverbal communication device for the staff to signal that the table has been greeted. The service rep was to our table as soon as the hostess left. We ordered our drinks and an app. Serving the drinks in goblets kept with the atmosphere. My Arnold Palmer was delicious! The app was deviled eggs with bacon and shrimp. The dish was devalued due to the egg filling taste. The egg itself was good as with the bacon and shrimp. The filling tasted as though it had been refrigerated for at least 2 days and took on the taste of other things. Soooo...yes, I'm from Alabama but do not catfish. I said that to say this...her catfish was breaded to perfection! The salt portion of the seasoning could come down .5 to a whole notch. The grits were good as well. They tasted of a savory "dinner" grit rather than a "savory" breakfast grit...if you get what I'm saying. And no...they didn't mess the grits up by putting sugar in them. Blasphemy 🤣. Because I consumed her fish first, my chicken lacked the bold flavors I had just experienced from the fish. I understood it though. I don't expect a huge burst of seasoning on chicken when you have waffles. Probably just a smidgen more to match the fish.
I almost forgot.. there are some good-looking young men running this place! At the end of the day, no need to go there for the men. The food and atmosphere will bring me back. Take a date. A guys' or girls' night out! This appears to be a place for the mature crowd wanting a peaceful environment to vibe. Go check it out. You won't be...
