It typically takes a good bit of annoyance for me to write a poor review & unfortunately, I am still annoyed with Rivershed.
Today I ordered takeout from Charity’s. Their establishment is the same distance from our condo as The Rivershed. Charity’s food arrived crisp & warm. Zero issues. We ordered fried chicken tenders, a fried chicken sandwich, tacos, & fries. All of them crisp & delightful.
Why are we talking about Charity’s? Because I have spent several hundred dollars at The Rivershed & every time we pick up takeout the food is literally falling apart soggy. The chicken sandwich from Charity’s had TWO sauces on it & still held up.
Our last order from The Rivershed I decided I’d have to call because any other time we just ate it & or ate what we could. This last time not only was the chicken sandwich soggy, the sweet potato fries weren’t even cooked through & were soggy. The regular fries: soggy. (The pickle chips we ordered prior: soggy). The egg rolls however were ironically appeared to be over cooked.. or something.. because taking a bite was a struggle. Idk what happened there. And, the sauces we asked for were 1) skimpy & 2) the honey mustard was just straight up mustard which was a nice shock (lol).
We called & spoke with the manager who refunded the sweet potato fries &.. something else. I don’t even remember now but the refund isn’t even the point. It’s the fact that I was told that ‘anytime I order take away fried food it may be soggy because of the condensation’.
I understand condensation but inedible, puffy, soggy food isn’t cool. This is the only restaurant I’ve had this issue with & felt like it was essentially told it was my own fault for ordering to go. So, is the resolution to never order to go? If so, why do you offer it? That won’t be an issue for us.. with the amount of money a family of 6 spends for take out, I don’t even want to risk trying again. Super, super, super, suuuuuuuper disappointed.
I suggest trying new packaging that isn’t waxed on the inside & holding condensation? Adding something to absorb the condensation? Time management for to go orders to eliminate delivering soggy food to your customers? Idk. But, blaming us for ordering take out definitely didn’t sit...
Read moreSkratch Kitchen - VT’s best kept Secret - Hands down some of the best food I’ve had in Vermont and have been coming up here for since i was in diapers. My wife and 2 kids ( 5 & 7) are big foodies and difficult to impress. We strolled in on a whim since we were staying at the woods across the street. Extremely clean, well maintained and amazing atmosphere with live music. First night we shared a few apps “side of sausage”, “corn dip” and had salads for dinnr, our kids both had chix fingers and fries. The chicken fingers were home made not something out of a bag frozen. We Came back the next night and tried the “crispy Brussels” & egg rolls, they were bomb! Tacos and fried chicken sandwich followed, topped it off with the “brookie” dessert. Equally as impressed the 2nd night. If your looking for real food made from scratch and not the typical Vermont ehh dishes than this is your place. I promise you will not be disappointed! Friendly staff, very attentive, and well mannered. The only thing i can’t understand is anyone giving this restaurant a bad review, unless it’s local competition that’s envious of this place nailing every plate they serve, and if that’s the case come and take notes from the chef here ! I wish the owners of this place nothing but the best for many many years to com. Thank you for the...
Read moreThis is my second time to this place. Food is mediocre, just like somebody mentioned the tacos are huge but not edible.
Service is bad. Disrespectful and careless. All they want is to make their tip. They give you a beer that’s flat and muddy, And they pretended this is how it should be. For brewery they should know better.
atmosphere is OK for an apres ski. Though no live music o and can get very loud .
Anyway, that’s our last time.
I added a picture of the beer I ordered at the Restaurant but only after I made a polite scene and asked her to swap it. She was arguing that The beer should be muddy and flat as if it was my first time drinking Switchback. Only after I complained and they replaced the keg, Did I get a decent pour ( see the pic) I’ve been going to Killington for 25 years, the owner can check my reviews on Tripadvisor. It just places like this and such attitude that Ruins it...
