I went to Sunny's a couple of months ago went through the drive-thru I ordered my food and ask for the fries to be done crispy I asked if they could be put into a paper bag cuz when putting to a container they tend to get steamed the girls seem to have an attitude came back and told me to go around the back of the building and wait about 20 minutes later the manager came out a female with my food handed me my container with the fries in it then handed me a bag of fries and and I left when I got back to the room where I was staying and remind you when I went back the meat was ice cold and went back with the fries to explain to them they weren't cooked I asked them to be cooked she would make them again she came out again with the fries and it container and now the whole staff was standing there staring at me I didn't say anything I left and I went back and I didn't eat any of it I waited till the following day went back in a female waitress came up to me and I asked her if I could speak to a male manager she rolled her eyes went in the back room and a few minutes past and out came a male manager with the expression on his face like I was another one of those annoying complaining customers when I explained to him what transpired and had my receipt with me and he can view the video he apologized for my inconvenience told me he would refund my money and give me a new plate of food and make sure that the fries were done rightas I was leaving Sonny's the girl who I asked if I could speak to a male manager said to me you have a nice day sir in a really bad tone when I got back to the room and I opened up the container laying across my fries was a big blonde hair that was deliberately done at this point I thought about going back there would have been a waste of my time because if they were made my food I was afraid they would have spit in it this all simply happened because I asked for my fries to be cooked a certain way the hair across my fries was done deliberately because I asked to speak to a male manager this is the problem we're having today in our society with a younger generation doesn't seem to think they're accountable for anything I am 66 years old I come from a different era and that would not have been tolerated in my day she would have been fired on the spot and I would have had all the legal right to bring a lawsuit against this company if you value any respect at all from this Sunny's you won't get it stay away at all means I should have went back and showed the manager immediately the big blonde hair laying across my French fries again in my opinion was done deliberately shame on you Sonny's for letting your employees get away with such disrespect and disgusting way of doing things again this was done deliberately and she was accountable for nothing and I also noticed that 9 out of 10 times whatsoever they constantly let their employees get away with whatever and pay no attention to what I consider them thinking is another complaining customer when is enough enough Sonny's when is...
Read moreIf you are healthy, and don't have a food allergy, then Sonny's is not a bad place to eat. But if you suffer from an allergy, I would not recommend eating here, due to improper handling of the food, and cross contamination. We went to Sonny's because they list many gluten free options, and my wife has celiac disease. We first made sure our waitress understood the severity of the issue, and was reassured that she had spoken to the cook, and as long as my wife ordered off the gluten free menu, everything would be alright. Well, her plate first arrived contaminated with french fries cooked in common oil, (oil used for battered and breaded items, not dedicated "gluten free") alongside her pork and chicken. (She ordered a baked potato, not french fries in the first place) The waitress took the plate to the kitchen where I'm very sure they repurposed the meat that was already compromised by the fries, and then delivered the "fixed plate" One of the side items my wife ordered from the gluten free menu was the baked beans. As she was eating the beans, she uncovered pieces of mac-n-cheese mixed on the bottom. The mac-n-cheese contains wheat, which is the gluten. When I asked for the manager to show them, one of the male employees came to our table, and as I was explaining that my wife would now be sick, he asked if she needed an ambulance in a loud animated voice that was both embarrassing, and facetious. The business was moderately busy, so it drew much attention. We paid our check and came home with my wife running to the bathroom to get sick. She is now in "Gluten Hell" as she puts it. From experience I know she will be sick for a couple of days, headache, burning, bloating, diarrhea, and vomit. This because Sonny's does not educate their employees and does not practice safe methodical handling of the food they offer as gluten free. If you have an allergy, this is not the place to go eat. There is a huge probability that you will get sick due to Sonny's lackluster approach to food allergy protocols. Please share this with anyone you may know who suffers from a food allergy, in hopes of averting someone else getting sick. I am a local guide, and only write...
Read moreThe food was filling and tasted average. The service was average and the ambiance is casual.
We were seated right away. The restaurant is clean and the vibe is casual. We ordered corn nuggets as an appetizer and they were probably my favorite part of dinner. They were fried perfectly on the outside, while warm and creamy on the inside. They tasted great with the ranch dip, which was also very good.
I ordered the Smokin Caesar Salad with pulled chicken, which is an extra charge. The lettuce seemed fresh. It came with 3 packets of Ken’s Caesar dressing to put on the salad, which tasted average. There was a drizzle of BBQ on the pulled chicken, which was such a tiny drizzle, I could barely taste any of the “smokin” part. Not sure what they were trying to do there. The pulled chicken was cooked just right, but tasted okay. I guess I could have added more BBQ sauce myself, but I just settled with the Caesar dressing.
My sister had the pulled pork with a side of coleslaw, green beans and garlic bread. She liked everything except the coleslaw. She only had one bite and said it wasn’t good. I had some of her pulled pork, green beans, and garlic bread. The pulled pork was tender, but didn’t wow me. The garlic bread was probably the best part of that dish, as it was buttered and toasted perfectly.
My niece had Sonny’s Cuban, which she liked with the BBQ mustard and extra pickles. She didn’t finish her Mac & Cheese, which I tried. It was awful. It just didn’t taste good. She tried adding BBQ sauce, but it didn’t make it any better.
Service was professional, but we waited a bit at the end for the ticket. And we weren’t asked at any point for drink refills, although their cups are pretty large, so maybe that’s why.
All-in-all, the portions of each dish were good (we all had left-overs), but together we concluded everything tasted average. Maybe there are other items on the menu that are worth trying, but it might be awhile till I come back to...
