La Carreta Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Kingsport

I have to say when I walked In i wasn't impressed with the person that sat us down right off the bat . Unless I had a bad experience I dont write reviews . Then the waitress was n a rush and only ask if one person at the table needed a refill or water . And then the hard shell tacos came out there was 5 and every single one of them where cold even the meat well then I told them . And a reasonable person would think oh there gonna cook fresh hot meat . And remake them but no . This is the best part they put them n the microwave 😂 well let's just say my son is 6 with autism and colonial heights and John b Dennis he eats Like a king there but when they brought us back his tacos he would eat or touch them so at this point I was upset and then then the brought my shrimp fajita on a plate with the salad and rice and beans all on the same plate. That is not how that's supposed to come out I just about said forget it I'm leaving and not paying but I said I'll never be back here and didn't say a word but when they noticed all the food was pretty much still all there. I have always loved la carreta. I usually go to the Gray location, but I was in Kingsport for an errand, and I realized I was hungry and craving tacos and margaritas, so I went to the main location off stone Dr and Eastman Rd. I had not been to this location in quite a while. As always, in every location in which i have dined, the employees are always friendly and helpful, and it almost feels like you came to their home for dinner instead of being a customer in a restaurant. That is how welcome I have always felt at whichever location I fine. The pictures I have posted may seem bit strange, so I will explain. This is the sink in the ladies restroom. I took the pictures originally to show my husband. I am putting them up publically because I believe it shows the total atmosphere of the restaurant in a way that just words would not explain. The design of this "bowl" sink, as I am sure there is an actual name for this type of sink which I don't know what they are called, is colorful and inviting in a way that a generic sink could never be. It adds more to the atmosphere of being invited to eat at someone's residence. The true feeling of welcome that is not common in...

Food is still good, but service is awful! We came in at 8:00 p.m. the restaurant doesn't close till 9:30. The waiter stood and talked to his buddies at the booth behind us looking at us the whole time and even fist bump one of them and then left to the back without taking our order or bringing us anything to drink then 15 minutes later he returned to take our order. I had asked for the guacamole to be left off of my plate and get a side of avocados. Our food was brought to us by someone else which was normal but our waiter never came to make sure our food was prepared correctly never refilled our drinks We only had one napkin for each of us. For goodness sakes this is a Mexican restaurant with salsa and greasy chips you need more than one napkin! I had to get up and find a stack of napkins where the wait staff normally goes! We had to ask the cashier to bring us more tea! Again this is a Mexican restaurant with spicy food! You need something to drink! Hey Lisa say we did not tip the gentleman he did not earn it!
