I will start with saying everything is vastly overpriced, there is little to no room for even smaller people to move around (which I am not, 6’3 200+). As I was browsing the second floor, with two other customers in view I was accused of entering an employee only area and lighting a cigarette, I didn’t even have cigarettes on my person, who smokes in an antique store? I’ve worked in retail for years, this place was filled to bursting and there were no signs, no cordon, absolutely nothing indicating a restricted location. There are side booths with displayed items ready for sale, if there is an area people shouldn’t be in it’s their job to restrict it. The ADULT woman working the counter deemed it an event worth screaming over and calling the police, as opposed to approaching me like a fellow human being. I will never step foot on that property again and I will withhold any recommendations. There are countless better (lower prices and willing to barter, every price at P&J is FIRM) antique shops on the same street, where the employees don’t see fit to harass potential customers. If selling antiques is too stressful I implore she finds a different job. Because from what I’ve seen in these reviews, poor employee attitudes are prevalent in this location dating back...
Read moreFirst time in downtown Kingsport. Figured I’d check out one of the largest antique malls. Honestly, it’s just ok. My first impression walking in… said hi to the older lady at the front counter and she straight up looked at me and turned around and continued complaining to a coworker about whatever. Wish I was exaggerating, but I’m not. From there the rest of store matched that energy. Great booths, don’t get me wrong, but my guess is that they change their vendors high rent, and unfortunately that’s passed onto the end customer. I know everyone has bills to pay, but when you check out the other stores literally on the same strip… and the prices were a lot lower, then I can’t really justify their higher prices. I don’t recall seeing any discounted booths. Not looking to lowball anyone, or rock bottom priced antiques, but it’s fun finding deals. Worth a visit once if you’re in the area, but there are more reasonable priced stores on the strip, and in Johnson City, Bristol and...
Read moreI had a very unpleasant encounter with an older lady in this establishment. She felt the need to make comments about how one of the dresses in my arms would not fit me. I attempted to be kind and laugh it off and just say, "Yeah, it will", and she decided to pull up the dress and hold it infront of my body and continue to tell me that it would not fit me. This commentary was not asked for, she engaged in conversation with me out of the blue. I was very disheartened that someone would make such unnecessary, rude comments to someone they do not know and someone who did not ask. This was my first time in and it will be my last. I will not be shopping at this...
