Amber Donia bakery is an elegant dining venue that's more than just cupcakes, brownies, pies, and pastries. It's also a place where one can get unique, fresh, 14" wood-fired pizza.
The staff members were extremely pleasant and personable, and more than happy to explain the toppings on some of their more obscure pizzas
We arrived on a Saturday night around 6 p.m., and had to wait for approximately 15-20 minutes to be seated. The tables are enormous, and can easily seat 4 or 5 people and still have plenty of space available. The slow, blinking dangling ceiling lamps provides soft lighting and adds to the stylish interior decor.
We ordered the Thorin's Thunder, which consisted of olive oil, pepperoni, mozzarella, soppressata, tomatoes, lonza, fresh peaches, basil and parmigiano. It was absolutely amazing, with the sweetness of the peaches offsetting the saltiness of the cured meats.
For dessert, we had the salted caramel pretzel chocolate cupcake and the chocolate mousse brownie. Both were tasty, but the salted caramel was a bit too salty for our taste. The desserts weren't decadent, but nevertheless satisfied our sweet tooth.
The Amber Donia bakery is a delightful establishment and truly warrants a night out for casual dining within a...
Read moreBest Pizza place in town! I lived here my whole life, tried mpst pizza shops from Scranton, old forge, wilkes-barre, Nanicoke and more. I am discovering that Amberdobia is one of the few, if not the only, pizza shop (in the valley) that uses real olive oil instead of processed vegetable oil or oil blends. (if there's another shop out there that uses olive oil only, please tell me and I'd love to go there too!) I think Amberdonia is a great model for how pizza should be made - with real ingredients: Fresh tomatoes and real mozzarella cheese, quality dough, light not overfilling.
Staff is kind, helpfull, and passionate. Atmosphere is nice and relaxing.
They even carry coca cola with cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.
Parking lot is a little tricky to find bc the shop is located in a building that used to be a bank but its worth it.
To be fair, I'm not a fan of the pastries even though this is one of their primary draws for some customers. Amazing selection but they just don't compare to my favorite bakery that used to be here in the 90's and early 2000's (Shout out to the Old River Rd Bakery from South...
Read moreWhat a lovely place to stop and have lunch and buy goodies for work or to take home. So many treats and such delish pizzas and the likes. My husband is very particular about his pizza but when he said this was a great place with great pizza I kid you not, it is exactly that. We were visiting Wilkes-Barre and could not have chosen a better place to have a light lunch. We also bough some chocolate chip cookies that we wish we could have bought more because we ate them all by the time we had to go home! The display of desserts is so inviting, the new location is full of light and great decor, their new pizza oven, everything is great. Oh and parking is not a problem at all. Stop by, bring the kids, or meet with your friends and enjoy a wonderful time. Service was pretty good and their mitigation guidelines during the pandemic were great too. Definitely...
