KJ's Pickle Barrel — Restaurant in Kingston

Their sandwiches are ok, your average deli sandwiches, nothing special. The reason I'm only giving 2 stars is because they've screwed up my order several times. They have someone answering the phone taking the orders, who, I'm sorry to say seems rather dumb. Doesn't understand what you are ordering so you have to repeat it several times even though it's a simple order of something right on their menu and I'm not even making any changes to the sandwich. Then this person has to read it back several times and you still get the wrong sandwich. Then when I told them this is not what I ordered, instead of them making it right away the correct way, I had to wait another 20 minutes until they finished making other orders. Most of the people working there seem overwhelmed and disorganized. If you only get a short lunch break this is not the place you want to go because you'll be there more than an hour, (unless you wolf down your food ). Also, they have one of those conveyor belt type toasters that only toasts on one side. One of its heating elements must be broken. Being a deli you'd think they would fix it. If I could rate this place zero stars I would!!!!!! First time at this location, went on my lunch break with a friend, the staff could use some improvement with there customer service manners. One young lady has a very bad attitude, complain that her back was hurting and that customers were not making it better. Witness the same young girl drop a salad dressing packet (was for my salad) on the floor, she looked at it, huffed, left it on the floor and grabbed another packet and slammed it on the counter next to my order. Like it was in a packet, she could have just picked it up and continued with the ordered. My friend and I waited over 30 minutes for our order. A couple came in 10 minutes AFTER US and got their order before us. Our orders were not made right, my friend paid extra for bacon for her sandwich but NEVER received the bacon. I have to say there grilled chicken Caesar salad was not worth $7.95, can get a better package salad kit at Price Chopper for $3.99.. All in all, never...

I have found a new obsession!! Pickle sandwiches 🥒

If you haven't tried the new Pickle Sandwich at KJ's Pickle Barrel, you need to go, like NOW!! It's ham, turkey & your choice of cheese, topped with lettuce and tomato sandwiched between a huge dill pickle, which is hallowed out to fit all the goodness in in the middle. Great choice if you're following a low carb (keto) way of eating.

Also, the place is just so cute!! Super clean, with cute little tables to sit and even a small couch with a coffee table that had some games & magazines splayed out for customers to enjoy. The manager on duty was very friendly and the clerk who took our order was very helpful with our questions.

We will definitely be going back. And if you're not into the pickle sandwich, they have a HUGE menu of lots of other great choices, which includes salads. They also offer local DILL-ivery (hee hee hee get it!!)
