Andy's was always one of my family's favorite restaurants in Kinston and thename change to Hwy 55 didn't change that.
After Covid hit we have had carry out from them fairly regularly. The first few times I called in our order, but with our large family, something was always wrong, so I started going up to the takeout window to place our order.
If they were busy, they would take our order and have me pull back around the building as they took care of the other customers.
Everything worked out... until tonight.
Tonight I pulled up to the takeout windiwn and there was nobody else in line. I waited for service... And waited some more. i even knocked lightly on the windoelw after I waited about 5 minutes and still had no response. I saw two workers walk past the area with the window and one actually looked at me before continuing by.
After about 8 minutes in my wait, two more cars pulled up behind me.
It was after 10 minutes before someone came to the window and asked if I had a phone in order. I said no, that I wanted to make an order.
His response was...
I don't think we can do that.
When I asked why, he said that it was a take out window and not an order window and that they will only take orders when there is nobody else in line.
I stated, there was nobody else in line until after I waited almost 10 minutes and he said that there was a line.
He then went and got a manager who said they couldn't serve me because there was a line and I would have to leave.
While Hwy 55, has always had above average food and service, it only takes a couple rude employees and managers to totally turn you off of a restaurant.
I will avoid Hwy 55...
Read moreIf thereâs a burger paradise on earth, itâs Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries in Kinston! I rolled in hungry, ordered the Andy's Cheeseburger Special, and by the time I took my last bite, I was convinced this meal could cure bad moods, heartbreaks, and possibly even minor back pain.
The cheeseburger? A masterpiece. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and topped like it was built for greatness. Every bite had that classic diner magicâcrisp edges on the beef, gooey melted cheese, and just the right amount of fixings to make you question why you ever eat anywhere else. The fries were golden, crispy, and probably fried by the hands of angels. And donât get me started on the shakeâpure, creamy bliss in a cup.
Now, as someone who runs D & D Pest Control Co. in Eastern North Carolina, Iâve seen a lot of hungry pests in my day, but let me tell you, not even a cockroach would dare take a bite out of this burger before I did! Hwy 55âs food is too good to shareâeven with a pest control guy whoâs seen it all.
Great food, friendly service, and a meal that makes you want to schedule your next visit before you even leave the parking lot....
Read moreGood was great! Our waitress came and took our order and once she took our order she only brought us our drinks. Our food was delivered to us by the cook! They were not busy since there were only customers at 3 booths and 1 customer at the counter. We waited for over 20 minutes for her to come check on us but she never did! We were going to order milkshakes but since all the workers were so busy gossiping with another customer about his âbaby mamaâ (someone who used to work at this location) for everyone to hear. We got up I paid for the cheese fries and sweet teas that we had. The man asked if everything was good I told him no that the food was great but the service sucked! Told him that we were going to order milkshakes but since they were too busy gossiping to come check on their customers we would take our business elsewhere!!!! I donât plan on coming back to this location unless the âmiddle school babysitting gameâ stops and the workers are more concerned with their customers than...
