Galaxy of Sports Bowling — Attraction in Kinston

A friend and I met here today, to take our kiddos skating. I paid 21$ for skate renttals, but forgot to ask for roller blades. No problem, we upgraded for 9$ more, and went to get our skates. First of all, they didn't tell me that they don't offer roller blades for my 7 yr old, so that was annoying, but the guy offered to give us the 3$ back. Fine. My 10yr old gets his skates, a clip is broken and the tongues are torn, but we make it work. I'm slightly more annoyed, however, because I'm paying 3$ extra for faulty equipment. Whatever, I guess it's fine. Then I get my skates. First pair, wheels look like they have been chewed up by a puppy, and the smell? Holy cow, dude. I'm like, WTHeck? So I trade them for a size bigger, because that's all they have, but the wheels look like they might actually be able to roll. I go sit down to put them on. First one stinks, but is definitely more tolerable than the other pair. It's broken, but I make it work because I'm trying to have a good time with my kids. Go to put the second skate on, and IT'S MISSING A WHOLE BUCKLE. By this time I am just done. I'm disgusted that they charged me for my little guy that can't wear their roller blades and I'm disgusted that they charged me 6$ more for obviously broken equipment. By this time I'm pretty mad. I go to the counter and ask to see the owner. They're not there. (Of course they're not!!!) They ask if they can help me and then I ask how they have the nerve to charge extra for something that isn't even in working order? "We can give you the 9$ back." I say, "I want my money back, I'm leaving." They refunded us all of our money and we left. The employees were GREAT! (Yes I was frustrated about the little ones roller blades, but it's ok.) They were very helpful and super understanding. I don't even know how the owners have the nerve to charge extra for the roller blades. They should be ashamed, really. I couldn't sleep at night if I did that to people. Oh yeah, and apparently the roof was leaking, because they had a section of the rink blocked off with cones and had a bucket to catch the drip......

My daughter just turned 7 and I was so excited that she wanted to have her party at the Galaxy Skating Rink!! When I was growing up, my friends and I spent our entire weekend and our entire weeks allowance here every week for around 6 years. The only preparations I had to do for her party was to grab her cake before we went. They took care of everything else! My daughter, ten of her friends and her parents were allowed to skate for 3 hours. The party guests were fed pizza, chips and were provided with beverages as well. They set up a nice area with balloons and a few decorations free of charge. They had my daughter stand in the middle of the floor so everyone could sing happy birthday to her and then they played her favorite song in which everyone else could return to the floor and skate with her to her favorite song. All this for only $125!!! Well worth it to me. I didnt have to run around trying to entertain guests, i could actually relax, and have fun with my birthday girl. And didnt have to clean my house where ten kids had their run of the place. You can pretty much set your kid free, letting them be independent and have a good time with their friends without you having to be right there beside them the whole time, knowing theyre in a safe environment. The customer service was excellent. I felt like my business was truly appreciated. I would definitely recommend this party option to any of my friends, family or the general public who may find this review helpful. Galaxy sports…. We went at 12 when it opened and they had a private party which was fine! We said we would come back at 1 since that was the time the private party was over which is what the employee had said we came back but they told us that the private party paid to be there alittle longer. I told them no disrespect but we aren’t coming back a 3rd time… and he let us walk away until a girl from the party thank you for telling them we can come in that we aren’t gonna be a bother.. so he turned us around to come back so I truly appreciate the lady that told them it was fine for us to come in.. We bowled 2 games but by the time we were done the first game and started the 2nd my 3 yr old wanted a drink and play games but I didn’t have change so I was gonna go buy my husband, myself and my son a drink and get change for my son to play games.. long story short she said we had to wait till that party was over to buy anything… which I’m not sure why…. I was giving you money for drinks I’m sure the owner would had wanted my money!! The building was hot so yes we wanted drinks and I wasn’t gonna say anything but once the party was leaving we tried again just for the lady with very short hair tell my husband rudely that she had told me we had to wait!! So we left!!! And got a drink and food...
