Update: went again for lunch. I hate it when rolls fall apart before getting to my mouth. Its messy!! We ordered 4 rolls, an app, and a bento. Again, all 4 rolls (all cooked) were large, lot of rice (ratio is off) and quite boring. Meh. And they fell apart. Not worth remembering their names (tho i think one was the volcano, a monsta lobsta, a mikado and something else). The app was the fried oysters. Good flavor, not greasy, inconsistant sizes. The salmon lunch bento was done nicely and salmon very tasty! There was a piece of fish tank decoration on the plate. It was kinda weird. The best part was the service. Lady was super nice and very helpful.
(Original review from 3 yrs ago) My first time going there and it was for lunch. Service was attentive and decor was quaint. We ordered a chicken tempura (Very Nice presentation), a duck roll (appetizer) and three rolls (volcano, drama queen and the ultimate sandwhich) while presentation was nice i was disappointed in all but the volcano. The duck roll is what seemed to me a peking duck (rolled with veggies and hoisin) wrap turned into a sushi. It was messy and kinda flavorless. The drama queen and the ultimate, while trying to be imaginative, fell short. It was just mushy. Idk how sushi is mushy. And not very flavorful. I detected zero tempura crunch in the Ultimate. The best was the Volcano. The chicken tempura was light in color and very greasy and not even warm. When i say greasy, my friend who had that got tummy troubles for the rest of the night. Im hoping this was just an off day because my friend says she really likes this place. Ill give it another go but for me this first...
Read moreA cozy little Japanese place with above average food. (Note: This place is small inside. It might not be able to host very large groups/seat entire groups together.)
I want to rate this place higher because the staff was friendly, but there were some issues. Mid day, they ran out of Co2 for their carbonated drinks.
It may be because our group was on the larger side + other patrons, but it did take some time for drink refills, requested sauces, and napkins not provided until asked for a few times.
A personal gripe is, from what I recall, mushrooms were not listed on the menu for their hibachi chicken, and I ordered that without it crossing my mind that mushrooms could be in it. Thankfully, I think the chicken and Veg are cooked separately because I was able to pick out the chicken pieces and mostly enjoy my meal. The puffy rice was quite bland, and the meal would pair better with fried (not the egg/onion fried rice, just plain soy fried rice).
It's not a bad place, though. The edamame and steak were good, and the chicken I could salvage from my entrée was good too. The warm apple sake was also smooth, and I quite enjoyed it.
For a small group or couples, this might be a great place to go for a little date, so even with the negatives I listed, I would still say you should ...
Read moreWe have been going to this restaurant for years and recently my wife just gave birth and was gifted a online gift card from mikadofl.com. We wanted to pay with a Online gift card and they did not want to accept it even though that it was the same website that their business promotes. The websites sells gift cards and do not let you pick a specific location. But according to them the gift card was for a different location. Even though it was from the same website their business is promoted. As we told the waitress and the manager they were really rude about it with no intention to help or to understand definitely horrible service and bad treatment to my wife and I. The manager will not allow me to explain the situation constantly speaking over me and to top it all off they made me pay out of pocket and did not receive the gift card. Be careful if you purchase a gift card from the is very misleading. You can have great sushi but my hard earn money will not be given to a restaurant with...
