Mama Mia Mediterranean food — Restaurant in Knoxville

If I could leave 10 stars I would ! We came here after trying to find somewhere to eat for probably 2 hours and finding this on google after searching top rated 😂 We’re so so glad we found this place and actually settled on it. Coming to the door we almost thought it was closed because it is a dark atmosphere but it IS open !!! We were greeted immediately after ringing the bell, and brought to a table. They were busy (as all their 5 star reviews suggest they always are) and it also seems to be a family run buisness with few workers meaning they take pride in their buisness. Even had a play area for their adorable little boy ! 🥰 Meaning yes it may take a small wait… but the food is TOTALLY worth it 😍 We tried and split the Chicken Shawarma (w the cucumber sauce which is AMAZING and seems to be homeade as well) we also tried a gyro which appears a little small at first but once you add the veggies and sauce it’s outstanding and just a perfect amount of food 🤤 We of course couldn’t miss out on trying the Italian too 🤣 so we got a meatball sub, and you can immediately tell the meatballs are homeade there.. fresh, tasty, seasoned to perfection 🤌🏼🤌🏼 Just absoslutely delicious. We will be back almost if not every time we visit Knoxville from Sevier County 👏🏼💗 (we’re also pretty picky eaters but there was nothing to not be totally impressed by) It’s definitely one of those little ‘unknown’ gems that once people find will visit time and time again. We can’t wait to try the pizza next 🍕 Oh and service was also great 👏🏼💯 I hope they continue to grow this buisness and take pride in it as it seems they do very well 💯💯💯💯 (also may I mention it seems they take cleanliness pretty serious which people seem to have a problem with in few other comments ? 🤷🏻‍♀️ But when we walked in there was no visible sludge on the table and where most people would just seat you they took time to actually sanitize it in front of you) Anyways this 1 time visit will turn into many! We love supporting local family owned businesses anyways as we know how it is looking from...

Update: the owner replies on multiple reviews and photos speak for themselves. You can see by the owner's ignorant and immature responses on all the complaints that he doesn't care what he serves people and has no morals or values nor a sense of how to run a business. He won't last long in this business.

Pictures prove it all yet he wants to lie and lash out bc he isnt mature enough to handle the long list of complaints he receives. If I wanted to a refund I wouldve went there and gotten it. Instead I threw in the trash where it belongs and warned others. Wouldnt even feed it to the dog.

He's clearly so desperate for a dollar that he will serve health code violating food. Other reviews were apparently 100% true. Which is why he has nothing to say except to try and accuse every single person of lying. Really are they all lying? Unlikely

Review: years ago or so they were decent. Past few times were not good, so stopped ordering. Gave it another chance, but today is the final day I'll ever order again. Meat is so dry and burnt a knife won't even cut through it and you can't chew it. Absolutely disgusting.

As you can see from the photo the meat is old and dry from the inside out. (Definitely not halal either. It is haram to sell food that could make others sick.) Hummus is bland and old with excessive tahini and no lemon. Not smooth at all. Rice is also dry and crunchy and now has cinnamon added to it making it more Saudi style instead of Mediterranean.

And for over $30 they couldn't even be bothered to give me a pita to go with the hummus. Never again. Sad that there's no place in knoxville that sells quality Mediterranean food. If you want it, you have to travel or cook...

Went here a few years ago and loved the large portions of the food and the quality of food and service . So I decided to check it out again and had the WORST experience i've had in a long time. I don't know if its under new ownership but the waiters barely spoke a word of English and couldn't really understand what I was saying. They were out of what I originally wanted at lunch time and so I had to settle for something I really wasn't sure about. The food wasn't fully cooked thru ( the bread portion) was super greasy and felt / looked like it was pulled from the microwave and was olllllld Nothing tasted fresh i mean the chicken was a grayish brown color :( . no one came to check on me once during the time of giving my food and me leaving . If they had i would have told them it was awful i only ate it cuz i was STARVING but i had to pick a bunch of pieces out to even be able to eat that. Then i go to pay and its HIGHLY over priced.. and not matching what their menu prices say.. i should have only paid like $13-$15 according to menu for my order and paid $20 . I dont usually leave reviews but you guys ! it was that bad.. the tables waiting for their food were even irritated that the waiter couldnt speak english and understand them. One can only hope their experience was better than mine! I wont be going back there and i dont recommend anyone else going there either.. that being said make your own judgement but dont say you were warned. I only wish i read some of the reviews before going so i could have been warned and wouldnt have wasted the money on the food thats already causing an upset stomach . come on guys.....
