Came for the first time today with family and ordered breakfast tacos, some pumpkin empanadas, a blueberry muffin, and some iced coffee. Everything was delicious and fresh!
Their tacos were simple and made to order. The flour tortillas were soft, pillowy, and light! I forgot to ask but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were made in-house. They gave us ample salsa all of which were fantastic! More complexity of flavor in the salsa than you’d find at a typical taqueria in the Austin area, even compared to some very popular spots.
I borrowed a chunk of blueberry muffin from our two-year-old. Nice and moist, not too sweet. Again, very fresh. The pumpkin empanadas were delightful and a great way to top off breakfast after finishing your tacos.
The iced coffee comes dressed with milk and syrup which we didn’t expect, but we didn’t mind after we tried it. Rich with notes of chocolate, vanilla, and hazelnut. Great with pastries!
All the staff there were nice and helpful. We narrowly avoided a big breakfast rush but they handled it very well and the crowd vanished as quickly as they came.
Be forewarned, while the shop is very cute, it is small and there is extremely limited seating which includes a small corner counter and a lone table outside. Be prepared to take orders to go or perhaps hang out in the morning shade just outside the shop.
We will definitely be back! Well worth the drive from Far...
Read moreMy daughter and I frequented Abuelita’s Bakery when they were just a food truck in Kyle. During that time, they were making these amazing Argentinian style chicken and beef empanadas.. As they are considered a small appetizer in Argentina, they had just the right amount of meat and the chimichurri sauce was to die for.. Since then, Abuelita’s Bakery opened up a brick and mortar in the same plaza.. Well a couple of weeks ago, my daughter and I had a craving for those amazing empanadas so we decided to take a drive to Abuelita’s Bakery.. When we arrived, we were told by the owner’s sister that the empanadas were no longer on the menu.. We were devastated!! Apparently, they received one negative review by some guy claiming the empanadas were dry, too small, and not authentic Mexican so they felt bad and decided to stop making them.. Ridiculous!!.. Those empanadas were fantastic and not intended to be authentic Mexican but Argentinian.. If you want authentic Mexican, there are tons of food trucks in Kyle that serve Mexican.. Please Abuelita’s Bakery bring them back!! Don’t listen to that one guy who’s limited in his knowledge of other food cultures and is ruining it for the rest of us.. Why should we suffer over his ignorance!?!!?? Everything you guys make is fabulous and we...
Read moreMy oldest son and drove by last night to check this new Bakery Spot. I was not sure why there was a food truck and then a "brick and mortar" location. Before work I stopped by, there are finishing the "brick and mortar" locations but have the food truck for ordering. I had already looked over the menu online to get an idea of what I wanted to order. The young lady working the food truck was very friendly and personable. I quickly ordered baked goods for myself and my boys, figuring I better not come home empty handed.
The Cinnamon roll was amazing. I was a little nervous it was going to be more of a "biscuit" with cinnamon and icing. It was a perfectly rolled roll of yummy goodness. I am glad it was not larger or I might have been in a sugar coma. My youngest had the Concha. As he bit into it, he stated, "Wow. This is amazing!"
I am glad they are finishing up their shop, as I look forward to buying more awesome treats. The prices were reasonable and service was top notch. Great...
