Honest review of the location, atmosphere and food. My family and I have enjoyed our experiences at other Pizza Ranch locations so much we have made great memories. We were excited to see a Pizza Ranch close to home. I decided to try this location for the first time with a friend.
The location is the worst I have ever experienced. The only way it is convenient is if you are coming from Onalaska towards La Crosse and then continuing your travels towards La Crosse after eating. Any other combination of travels and you are traveling well beyond the turn, taking lights, U-turns if you are lucky and fighting to merge with traffic just to get in and out of this location. If this was an amazing restaurant it might be worth it on a good day.
The first thing I noticed when entering the building was the constant cycling of Jesus music in the middle of the week. I figured it was just management’s choice that day and tried to ignore it but when I entered this location for the second time, again during the week, with one of my children it was the first thing I noticed. “Jesus Ranch” is a better fitting name for this place just based on the atmosphere and decor shoved in your face. If you have any trauma connected to Christianity this place is similar to sitting in an uncomfortable room being forced to listen to their indoctrination, even the Bible Belt has better atmosphere and I lived there for 20 years. I don’t drink and each time I left this location I thought about tipping a bottle end to the sky to drown out the refreshed PTSD from Jesus Christ extremists. To the owners, try and change it up with family friendly country, 60s-80s, music that is acceptable to the whole community to make the atmosphere more inviting to who you are serving.
The food reminded me of the late 90s and early 2000s cafeteria food. The mashed potatoes reminded me of the powered milk and boxed potato flakes days. The chicken was okay but if I want good chicken I can visit the many easily accessible restaurants and drive thrus in the area and be satisfied with my choice. The pizza reminds me of the cheap frozen pizza from childhood. The ingredients are subpar but edible with a constant overly sweet taste in the sauce. There aren’t many varieties to choose from since it is the shortest buffet I have seen from the Midwest to the eastern shore. For the price paid you can get a delicious pizza elsewhere, heck I’ll even take Pizza Hut or Dominos pizza over what is served here.
The cost is high when factoring the very inconvenient entry and exit, the only music choice choking you with Jesus, and short line cafeteria style food. Each time we left unsatisfied and riddled with memories of indoctrination torture that take a good day to get out of our minds.
I’ve tried this place twice because I give the benefit of the doubt but our time and effort with this Pizza Ranch location has...
Read moreFirst of all i have always been a fan of pizza ranch and come often in fact this is the second day in a row me and my best friend came. We called ahead tonight because we heard it was chicken wing night and were.told they had a lot od them. I'm leaving the country and was craving wings before I left something I can't get over seas . We were greeted at the door by Cindy who is amazing by far . We got our first plates i got a few wings and my friend filled his plate. We ate happily and enjoyed our food. I went up for second to find no wings.....just boneless which I'm not a fan of. We waited about 14 mins .. no one around...finally we asked then lady cleaning plates for more traditional wings. .. I went up and she gave me a few some man behind me was claiming I was taking them all again and was rude. I saved some for him. Than the worker turned into something evil... she told me the reason there wasn't any wings was because my friend had taken them all. She was yelling and snapping at me accusing us of taking all the wings and making me feel guilty. It gave me a horrible feeling in my stomach and makes me not want to ever return. In all I only ate maybe 10 wings.. yes my friend may have at more ..he's 400 plus pounds ..but it's a buffet and the whole reason we came. .he and I sat there after that waiting to say something to this lady for the way she treated me. No customer deserves that disrespect ever. It was loud enough other customers heard. ....
I won't be back for awhile and honestly left disappointed. I didn't eat more after that and we wanted to stay and support logan high school night but neigjter of us were in good moods..honestly...
Read moreWhoa!! Yesterday, Saturday, we wanted to grab lunch before leaving town... about 12:20... apparently the whole town thought the same thing!! We took one of the last parking spots along the back row of the parking lot. Opened the door to enter... the next door in to the restaurant... stopped...as the line was THAT LONG!!! However... the line moved rather fast. Then... I heard the cashier "there's a 15 minute wait for a table." Man....feeling defeated. However, a few minutes later by the time we got to her, she pointed out a table for our party of two. Despite my worry that the buffet would be empty... Pizza Ranch kept the food full and there was no lacking in options. There also wasn't a line for each food item, as I expected. Thanks Pizza Ranch for crushing all my worries and providing a delicious lunch. When we left an hour later the line was STILL out the door!! I don't know if this is a typical Saturday afternnon, but it was worth the wait. I didn't encounter much staff but they were all kind. It's been ages since I've been in a Pizza Ranch as most in MN have closed.. one difference I noticed was that instead of the little brown bowls for ice cream they now offered black disposable cups. Maybe it's not new but just new to me... they also offered three dessert pizzas, including a chocolate chip cookie one....that I dropped a bit of ice cream on to! Thanks for a delicious and filling lunch...
