I got there on a Sunday at 8:20. The restaurant didn't close till 9:00, from the moment we entered we felt rushed. I ordered a Modelo draft beer... my waiter/the manager on duty I assume said we don't have it , so I tried a Pacifico, and he said they were out of that too. I was confused because the menu said they had it so I inquired and he rudely explained that the COVID had disrupted the ability to get it which I understood. But instead of just explaining this he said, "I aint lying, trust me this aint my first day"! I ordered food, guacamole, a modelo in a bottle and my wife ordered a sprite. I received my beer and she received water. The food was served, no guacamole. Our waiter went on to talk in depth to another table playing with their children while I was empty with nothing to drink. Parched at 8:50 he walks by my table and I say "can I get another beer"? He looks at his watch and says we are about to close, we gotta get outta here at 9:00. He brings me a baby beer (7 oz instead of the 12 oz I received previously) and sets it on the table and walks away. I have been to many of the El Nopal restaurants and, by FAR, this was my worst experience. From now on I will stick with Ernestos in Lagrange...MUCH better food AND service. I would have went this night but Ernestos closes 30 minutes sooner. ...
Read moreThe food is priced very, very good considering the freshness, taste, and portions you receive. They offer a menu with vegetarian options, which is very important to me. The tortilla chips were hot and delicious, and they came with a bottle of hot salsa & mild salsa that could be portioned into a bowl depending on how spicy you prefer it to be.
The service here is good. Our waiter was rude to us once, but nothing terrible and we just laughed it off. I came with my friends, and I understand that dealing with a small group of 18-year-old teenage boys right after they got off of school isn't the most thrilling experience.
But the same waiter is very kind to my younger brother. I take him there sometimes because he loves to go, and he always waves to the waiter and asks to personally bring him the tip. Sometimes he asks the waiter a lot of questions and tries to talk to him, and every time our waiter has been patient and kind. I...
Read moreStopped in on cinco de mayo as we were passing through town. Place was crowded and on first glance the staff was hustling. Later found out that was because there was only 4 servers. Our waitress was a 12 year old girl who served me a virgin margarita because she was afraid to tell me I had to go to the bar to get it. The food was mediocre and we had to ask multiple times for silverware. The straw was when or server lost her order book and didn't know what to charge us. I repeated our order but she still wasn't sure, so I told the order gentleman (not sure of their relationship but they appeared to be family) look at my table and you can see exactly what we ordered considering it was so bad we didn't eat most of it. Good luck if you plan on...
