I’ve given this place more chances than I care to admit, but after my most recent visit this past weekend, I’m officially done. I placed an online order for three meals and was quoted a 45-minute pickup time. I showed up over an hour later, only to find out my food wasn’t even started. I ended up waiting a total of 2 hours and 36 minutes for food that was still wrong when I finally got it. One order was incorrect, and for another, I was told last minute that the side dish I originally paid for wasn’t available. No apology, no accountability—just attitude. The woman at the front counter was her usual unprofessional self, dismissive and rude when I pointed out the issues with my order. This isn’t my first bad experience here either. In the past, I had an issue that led to the owner herself getting confrontational with me—as if customer complaints are a personal attack rather than an opportunity to improve. After reading her responses to other reviews, it’s all starting to make sense. Here’s the thing: the food is decent—but not worth the price, the wait, or the consistently awful customer service. If you’re going to charge premium prices, customers should be met with professionalism and respect, not snark and chaos. If this restaurant ever wants to be taken seriously, it needs to start with the basics: • Own up to mistakes • Respect customers’ time • Train staff in basic customer service or hire someone other than your family! • Learn to respond to feedback without hostility Until then, save your money and your sanity. Unless you like your food with a side of attitude and a 2.5-hour wait, look elsewhere. Look at this soggy cornbread, disgusting! Let’s see the owners response to this one. I’m sure it’ll be a lack of accountability.

UPDATED: Changed review to 4 stars from 3 as I appreciate the response from the owner. Suggestions were shared from a colleague who also works in the restaurant industry as I shared our experience with them. As I stated, I would visit again. Hubby and I went here on a random to grab a bite to eat after tasting some of my mother in law food a while back. You go to the order area, submit your order and seat yourselves. So, I ordered the oxtails which came out steaming hot and very tasty. Hubby ordered the rasta pasta, which was luke warm, although he said the bottom was hot. Which you can see the cheese wasn’t entirely melted on the top. So that threw me off a little bit. Service was good and the cashier/server was very nice and warming. This was all good until the next day I woke up with stomach cramps, and I’ve had oxtails many times before, and hubby’s stomach was not feeling the best either. I cannot say I will go here again and order food, considering we got two separate dishes, yet both had upset stomachs. The drinks we got, however, were decent. I definitely want to support our local businesses but this wasn’t the best experience with upset stomachs the next day. Could be pure coincidence, but I’m not so sure. Only thing I can suggest, if I may, is to ensure your kitchen is clean and free of any contaminants, double check the temperature of your food often, and make sure food is stored properly.

Can i give negative stars for service?! I've been coming here for going on 3 years and I promise you I will never be back. The service continues to go further and further down hill. The young lady that works the front counter makes it her mission to let you know how much you ordering is a burden to get. Today I went in I have over 700 points which they have always marketed you can use 100 points for 5 dollars off. Today I go in to use my points and of course now it takes 3 people to push the is through they only allow me to use one of the coupons then say they are rolling back the rewards program. If course knowing I've built these points I ask when and I'm told this weekend. So I ask can I use them on desserts and I'm told yes then I go to order desserts one by one (which total over 5 dollars per purchase so either way they are still making more money). Now it's you have to spend 25 dollars to use your dollars off, then it's oh you can only use it on these items that we are out of stock of. Just say you only want your customers to think there is a benefit here. Mind you my food was given to me with an attitude, lukewarm, and the quality is nothing like it was 2 years ago. I hope this place goes to the same place my 700+ goes away too

Sit back, going to be a long one. I’ve been wanting to try this place for monnnths now but I live out of state and it seems that the stars have never aligned to come here any time I’m in Charles county. Well yesterday I finally had the chance and ordered multiple things so I could try almost everything I wanted. First things first they forgot to put my jerk chicken egg rolls in my bag. Is it my fault for being so trusting? I saw 3 containers and a brown bag in my bag and assumed it was the meals and the egg rolls in the brown bag. Why would I think twice about that so on my way I went. I turned south onto 301 after leaving the restaurant to get to my next destination and decided to pop into the parking lot by Galazio’s to start munching on my egg rolls, jokes on me. After opening all the containers I see they aren’t there and in the brown bag was the container of potato salad. There was no way I was attempting to turn left onto 225 and then 30 in rush hour, so I called them and no answer. Just busy tones. From 415ish until 530, the phone immediately hung up every time as there was a busy tone. I gave up.

2nd the Cajun shrimp were good but looked a bit underwhelming. You don’t get many for $20. Oh well, learning experience

3rd I wasn’t expecting much for the Henny yams, but they were semi cold/room temperature, but tasty. I was expecting the alcohol to be fully cooked out, boy was I wrong. After eating the first spoonful (while driving) I realized they def add more to the sauce after cooking and I should not be eating them while driving 🤣. They weren’t hot so I def wouldn’t have eaten them anyway at that point.

4th tasted a few spoonfuls of the chicken Rasta pasta and it was chef’s kiss. Perfect temperature, nice kick to it. Perfect amount of sauce. Would get again and maybe with salmon.

Last but not least, the jerk salmon. I called to place an order but the person who answered stated that ordering can only be done online or in person, no phone orders. the person on the phone stated that the jerk salmon doesn’t have any dairy so I was excited to hear that. However the jury is still out on that one because when I opened my container, the jerk sauce looked white-ish. I am not sure what’s in the sauce but I popped a dairy pill and hoped for the best. The salmon was also cold. I started trying the salmon by the Hawthorne country club, no reason the salmon shouldn’t have been even a tiny bit warm, barely 10 minutes later. Although you get a sufficient portion of salmon, it wasn’t flaky and soft. It was tough. It didn’t wow me. However after eating it with some of the jerk sauce and the rice&peas under it, it was ok. I think I would get it again, maybe it was an off day for the salmon.

When I went to pick up my items, I only had to wait about 5 minutes. I had read some reviews so I was a bit worried it wouldn’t be ready. I asked the cashier if the plantains were regular fried plantains with salt or sweet plantains. She said “I’m not sure because I don’t eat them.” At no point did she say oh let me ask someone, or would you like me to find out for you.

So I was finally able to get through on her phone when I tried again around 715pm and spoke with the manager. She said “are you sure it wasn’t there?” And she also stated that they have a “new policy” that you are required to check your items before leaving the store. As a first time customer I wasn’t aware of any old or new policies. There was no sign on the door upon entering with this information nor did the cashier mention it when I picked up my bag. How is anyone, let alone a first time customer supposed to know about this? And is it really the responsibility of the customer to check and make sure everything is there before leaving? Well the manager I spoke with did say that I would be able to get a replacement of the jerk chicken egg rolls next year when I’m back in the area. Hopefully they hold onto their word. Doubtful,...

Food was delicious as always! I enjoyed the DJ there Friday night playing while we ate. Nice touch!

But service was very slow as usual and the young lady at the counter wasn’t terribly eager to greet and serve anyone. I realize they were busy and clearly short of staff but I wasn’t even acknowledged multiple times while standing there right in her face to ask for things from behind counter. 🤷🏽‍♀️ She just stood there looking down at the computer or some device until I literally waved at her. And I’m noticing the prices rising but the portions shrinking. There’s even a sign inside informing customers to anticipate price increases which is understandable in this inflation-heavy climate. However, shrinking the portions is a bit much to take. Very annoying.

I had a very bad experience with them the day before this visit when I attempted to order from them through Door Dash. Long story short, after the Door Dash driver went to the restaurant and waited for my food for about 15-20 minutes, the driver called me to say the restaurant had turned off incoming orders because they were short of staff. However, they were allegedly allowing my order to come through since it went through on my Door Dash app and then sending it with a different driver. That didn’t happen and I called the restaurant multiple times with no answer. I left a voicemail but am still awaiting that return call. It was already fairly late into the evening so after waiting for well over an hour and a half from my initial order time until no longer willing to wait for the delivery, it was too late to order anything else from anywhere else. So we all went to bed hungry. I don’t understand how this restaurant was able to turn off Door Dash ordering from their side but not on the Door Dash side so customers like myself are allowed to order through the app without being told/shown that this was not an option/it was turned off. And the restaurant never bothered to call me back with an explanation or anything else, even despite my leaving a voicemail.

I’m the first to come to their defense when I see any negative feedback about them on social media, etc. But now my own personally negative experiences are mounting. 🥺 Excellent food product so I’ve been rooting for this place to be successful for years to come but they’re making...

I had the most unprofessional experience at this restaurant, and after being a loyal customer, I’m absolutely appalled.

I ordered the jerk chopped chicken online, unaware it contained small bones. Since I frequent this place and recommend it to others, I figured an exchange or refund wouldn’t be an issue.

I returned and politely explained the situation to the owner’s daughter at the front. Her immediate, snappy response? “Sure, you can get something else, but you’re gonna have to buy it.” So, despite already paying $20 for an inedible meal, I had to repurchase something else?

Confused, I stepped outside but decided to return and speak to the manager. The second I walked back in, the daughter shouted across the restaurant, “She’s back, Mom!”—making it clear they had been gossiping about me after I left. Unbelievably unprofessional.

The owner emerged, already irritated, arms crossed, and immediately launched into a condescending lecture: “So you’re telling me I have to refund your food or make a new plate because you read what was online wrong?” I later checked—the menu never specified if the chicken was boneless.

Even after politely explaining my position, she continued yelling across the counter with aggressive hand gestures, making it clear she had no intention of helping. At that point, I realized this wasn’t about a refund anymore—it was about her ego.

As I left, I calmly said, “Have a lovely day! Have a blessed day!” while she continued shouting. That should’ve been the end of it—but it wasn’t.

Both the owner and daughter followed me all the way to my workplace, making a scene and demanding to speak with my manager. For what, exactly? Because I questioned their awful service? Because I didn’t want to eat bony chicken? Because I asked for a refund or just to have something else made…?

This was next-level pettiness and harassment. They’ve honored exchanges for other customers (per their own Google reviews), yet chose to escalate this into a spectacle. I will never return, and I strongly recommend avoiding this place. If this is how they treat a regular, paying customer, I can only imagine how they handle anyone else. Do yourself a favor and...
