The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille — Restaurant in La Plata

I’m a long time fan of the Turtle but this has got to be the worst location I’ve ever been to. I’ve been here twice just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. The service here is terrible, there must be a black hole in the kitchen that sucks the waitstaff in never to be seen again because they seem to disappear back there and not perform their basic server duties. On my first experience there it was middle of the day not busy at all and the waitress took our order the moment we sat down, dropped off our food, and then was never seen again. They don’t even come around to fill up your drinks or ask if you need anything. I had to ask a different server to bring our check. On the second experience there today, our server got the order totally wrong (brought bone-in wings instead of boneless) and looked like a deer in the headlights unsure of how to fix it when we told him it was wrong. Then he brought out the boneless wings, but the sauces were wrong (we ordered honey old bay and they had dry rub old bay). We would have told the server it was wrong but he disappeared in the back for what felt like an eternity. Disappointed and hungry we watched as other servers checked on their tables totally fine but ours was nowhere to be found. When we finally got his attention to get the check so we could go get dinner somewhere else, he dropped the check without saying anything and just left. I tried to go pay at the front counter and there was a confusion about who our server was and why they didn’t cash us out, then he came out of nowhere ran my card and then disappeared again without giving a pen to sign the check or saying anything to us. This restaurant has had the worst service I have ever experienced every time I have visited. The first visit we were sat at our table outside by the host and nobody came to our table for an hour when we said something. When someone did come they were very rude and unprofessional. We came back another time because the food was good and stuff happens 🤷🏼‍♀️. The next visit, our server seemed to be cracked out on drugs. After several strange interactions another staff member brought us our apps, but took them to the wrong table at first. No big deal, but our server loudly treated her coworker poorly over this even tho it was likely her own fault ringing it in to the wrong table. Extremely unprofessional and so disrespectful to her coworker who seemed to be much better at her job. Following this the server asked if we were ready to order and we all said “YES” and the worker said ok! and walked away…. without taking our orders??? then didn’t come back for another 20 minutes. Very weird. Our most recent visit our service was okay until we were charged twice for a lemonade refill that is supposed to be bottomless. We did not get an explanation and didn’t bother to talk to anyone over a drink but I can only assume it was because I had a couple sips of my husbands drink. Which if that is the case fine we will pay it but a heads up beforehand would be great. And every visit our servers always disappear for long periods of time. And it’s not because they’re busy. I’ve been to this location several times in the past years and always enjoyed my experience but this most recent time was a total 180. We were first seated at our table and the waiter came to over and it appeared as if she did not want to serve us. She was not the slightest attentive at all. While ordering our food a member of my table ordered a certain type of side item and we had a good 30 second conversation in front of the waiter about that side item. That members food came and of course it was a different side item than what we ordered and was charged an extra $1.00 for. And even after explaining to the waiter about the issue it still showed up on the final bill as such. I had to go back up to the front to pick up silverware and napkins because we asked a few times for those items. Our food was getting cold and the waiter was no where to be found. The food I ordered was wrong as well but with the waiter Mia for several moments I ate the food unwillingly. Just to wrap this up I’ve never had this experience at this location ever. I don’t know if I will return anymore which is a bummer because this location is fairly close to my residence. I will just travel to the Annapolis location. End of my rant here.
