Emmy's Bakery — Restaurant in La Porte

Cute place, definitely grabs your attention, we’ve wanted to stop in but it’s usually closed when we’re there. Dining area is cavernous not cozy, despite the colors. The cookie was very good. The PB sweet roll was dense, and the flavors were lost or underdeveloped because it was undercooked. The pretzel roll was also undercooked and doughy. The flavor was right but it to undercooked to look past it. If the two staff there one was very pleasant, but the one who assisted us was not very happy, seemed put out to be there and having to deal with patrons. They were not helpful, they were curt and had an unpleasant demeanor. The staff cashier was very nice. Prices not easily identified but surprisingly low. We were told by the snarky one that donuts were no longer available because they weren’t selling and the baker lost interest in putting in the time make them. If it were my business I’d be working more diligently to improve the recipes and skill of the bakers and front staff and finding ways to keep people in the shop with seating. I’m not likely return. I’ve now been here 3-4 times since they’ve opened. There’s never a hello when you walk through the door, there’s zero customer service ever. Today when I went in, I wanted to try the cheesecakes, I bought each flavor they had left, I also bought her poptart and a cookie. No consistency on the cookies, very hard and dry. The poptart I couldn’t even eat because it tasted like old fruit on the inside. Now let me get to the cheesecakes, I’ve had plenty in my lifetime, they’re my favorite dessert! These caramel one wasn’t bad, they’re crust a little hard but overall it was okay, the other three I couldn’t even get past 2 bites when I realized it was runny and not cooked in the middle. I’ve never not finished a cheesecake until today. I was so excited to get a bakery in town and I have been disappointed every time I go in. I will not be back!...

This place is the best! They're always kind, even when they've been at the bakery working since 3am!! Emily is super responsive to Facebook messages and always willing to make a vision a reality. The cookie cakes are PHENOMENAL!!! I've added a picture of the lemon cookie cake she made to commemorate the first You Are My Sunshine Children's Consignment Event! Literally every cookie I've had from there has been incredibly delicious. My top 3 cookies: cinnamon brown sugar poptart, lemon, snickerdoodle. The BUTTERMINTS. The cinnamon rolls and donuts are also yummy! The homemade glazes with real fruit are out of this world amazing!
