Normal portions, bland food, subpar service, high than normal prices for a small cafe. Or a very welcoming environment. The attention goes to all the older & local business. Gravy was watered down and lacked the flavor. Simple requests seemed to be bothersome to the waitress who also complained quite a bit.

The biscuits were very sour but were homemade. Quite possibly the worst food I’ve had in a long time. The gravy had lots of salt to make up for the lack in flavor caused by watering it down to yield it more. There was very little room to sit so if you plan on coming with more than 4 people you probably won’t have room to sit as only 1 table was free.

All in all, with the poor taste in food I would of gave 3 stars but the unwelcoming environment makes this a 1 star place. With such a big tourist area you’d think they’d be more welcoming but if you’re not a local good luck getting service...

After reading all the great reviews my wife and I couldn't wait to stop in.. I am not sure now what all the hype is about. It is a very small restaurant. The coffee is basic at best. You have your choice of one type creamer and sweetener is either sugar or saccharin(pink), The food was bland. We are not smokers so our taste buds are not compromised and we dont use salt. We ordered a Denver omelette and half order of biscuits and gravy, two eggs and hashbrowns. The bacon was the only thing that had flavor. Service was not bad although the "here let me fill your coffee cup (after you have only taken a couple sips) dear" is kinda annoying. The dirty windows looked like they haven't been washed in months. The staff is friendly. Not our type of restaurant and probably...

I think its high time I put effort into this review. This is far more than 5 stars. This is La Porte's Family Kitchen. As a life long customer of 27 Years my community never feels like more of a community than it does when I'm inside your doors. Jess is a community maker, someone that just by showing up and giving it her all makes our small city feel like a large family. The amount of times the small space has lead to the best of people opening up their underfilled tables and enjoying a meal with their neighbors I can't count. We the citizens of La Porte, your customers, greatly appreciate all your team is to our community. I look forward to many more years and plates of Biscuits & Gravy. Thank you all for fostering an enviroment thats truly good...

If you're not paying attention, you can easily drive right past it! Co plate small town restaurant feel with limited seating. The food was delish!! Fantastic sausage gravy! The server was funny and snarky. We were traveling from Chicago to South Bend and wanted something outside of Chicago proper. If we ever drive from Chicago to South Bend, we will definitely come back! I ordered the Mom's Meat Mess (and added Cholula), and it was scrumptious!! One of my friends order the Haystack and loved it. I do like that her meal came with crispy hash browns. Next time, I'll see if I can replace the country potatoes with the crispy hash browns in the Mom's Meat Mess. Also, the OJ wasn't freshly squeezed, but it was still good. Lastly, it was cash only.

Today was our first time coming to Mom’s home cafe. I can’t express how much I loved this little cafe. It took me right back to when I was a little girl going to the diner with my papaw. 🫶 I didn’t catch our waitresses name, but she was so sweet and made me feel right “at home”. ❤️ I ordered a mushroom swiss burger w/ fries and my boyfriend got a bacon cheese burger w/ fries. The burgers were so yummy! Great prices and even better atmosphere. Thank you all again! We definitely will be back! 🤗
