My daughter and I went to get flowers at a nursery and wanted to stop for lunch in LaPorte. We decided to try Tony’s Table on 125 Truesdell Ave (behind the 711 on Pine Lake Ave). We had the pleasure of being waited on by the owner. The service was terrific as he gave us time to look over the menu while getting our drinks. He answered our questions about main sandwiches and the sides. My daughter got the Turkey Pesto sandwich with a side of kettle chips (choice of three types). I opted for the Italian Beef with mozzarella and a side of pasta salad. The turkey pesto sandwich was delicious with local sourced turkey, great fresh pesto aioli, arugula, bacon, tomato, and provolone and served on a thin artisan bread that slows the ingredients to shine. She remarked it was nice to have a restaurant that offered a variety of sandwiches and not the usual run of the mill. My sandwich was loaded with thinly sliced meat, mozzarella cheese, and red peppers. There was enough there for two meals. However in my opinion, the pasta salad stole the show by being creamy and dreamy! I was excited to have such a luscious and generous scoop. I’m not much of a mayo lover, but I would have licked the plate over that salad! It had small macaroni with finely diced veggies, meat, and cheese. As we were about to leave, Tony told us to sit back down. He served us an apple turnover that had been warmed up and finished with caramel drizzle. We also had a great pecan roll. We chatted with Tony and assured him we would be back. Service, food, and ambiance are all there. Please support this small local business. I feel you...
Read moreAre all the reviews wrong? I had one of the worst waffles in my life. Cardboard, probably freezer burnt. Look at my pics and see the crumbs coming off the waffles. CRUMBS FROM A WAFFLE ? My waffles looked EXACTLY like others posted here, like a cookie cutter. Same shape, just toasted darker. Can you say Gordon Food Service pre frozen? Letgo my eggo. Asked for a couple eggs on the side only to be told "we don't do eggs". Huh? Hello? Breakfast place much? Added a side of bacon. How can you ruin bacon? Well they did somehow. Nice thick pieces that had been obviously pre-cooked and NUKED to within an inch of being burnt. Shoe leather, not a drop or hint or sheen of cooking grease to be seen. The coffee was decent tho. Place was empty at 8AM -- shoulda heeded that red flag. The irony is the largest sign behind the counter states in bold letters "FRESH". huh, coulda fooled me. TBF I will brave a return trip at some point for a sammy. How can you ruin a sammy?...
