Durango Restaurant — Restaurant in La Puente

Stopped by for some breakfast. I've never been here before, so I thought that I would give it a try. The waitress Lola was very pleasant and respectful. She brought me a cup of coffee and a glass of water, and then waited for me to make up my mind as to what I wanted for breakfast. I ordered the Ranchero Chido. The dish consisted of a ranchero steak, rice, beans, chilaquiles and two eggs, cooked however you want them. The meat was delicious and tender, the rice was, light and fluffy and had good flavor and beans were cooked perfectly. The eggs were cooked to my order of over medium, the whites were solid and the yolks were firm, but, not solid. The chilaquiles were crunchy, and the sauce that was on the chilaquiles had good flavor to it. The sauce on the chilaquiles wasn't overly spicy. The waitress brought two types of salsa to the table. Have come to Durango's for years. Always have enjoyed their food. But today wasn't that. I hope it's just a one time situation as we would really like to come back. On a cold day like today I was really looking forward to a beef soup (caldo de res) or cocido. It's one of my favorites here. I asked for the meal with extra portion of meat. I was told the portions were preset but that they would see what they could do. Understanding this I advised the waitress that we would pay the extra cost of the portion requested. Needless to say The soup arrived with the three pieces of meat you see in the photo. It wasn't followed with any reason explaining what could be done about the extra meat portion. I was so disappointed in the meal and the treatment, that it saddens me that we likely won't return. It's always been a great experience. First of all the service was horrible. We ended up waiting 20 minutes after we sat down before anyone came by and asked for our order much less our drinks. Once we got our drinks, 2 of the 3 ( the 3rd one had to be asked for again after another 10minutes of waiting). Once the food arrived we never saw our server and was never asked if we need anything or need a refill on our drinks. O will say the food was half way decent but not enough for lousy service that came with it. My family and I will never visit that establishment again which is sad after all the years it has...
