Lucky Thai Street Food opened for business in mid-July of 2022. Before Lucky opened, Hacienda Heights had not had a Thai restaurant between 2020 and 2022. Before the pandemic in 2020, Hacienda Heights had only one Thai restaurant at the same location, but it permanent closed down when the pandemic started in March 2020. Afterward, I had not been able to find another authentic Thai restaurant in Hacienda Heights or within the 15-minute-drive radius. So Lucky's opening has solved the problem of the dearth of authentic Thai restaurants in the vicinity.
Lucky's menu sticks to classic Thai without any fancy fusion or deviation; (there are two other restaurants in a nearby city that serve "fusion" or "Americanized" Thai instead of authentic Thai.) I visited Lucky on its third day of business. I ordered a Tom Yum chicken soup, which was served with a big bowl of white rice and a free Thai coffee or tea. Lucky is still a new business, so I think they are still experimenting with prices, menu items and portion sizes. When I visited the place, its prices are reasonable, the portions are generous (even with the inflation/shrinkflation that has been hitting the economy,) the place is clean, and the staff (which is an immigrant family) is friendly and...
Read moreAbsolutely blown away by our experience at Lucky Thai Street Food! Finding them was a little difficult, they are located inside of the market and did not have a sign out front, but this did not in any way discourage us from trying them.
From the moment we walked in, the owner and all the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. But let's talk about the food—WOW! The garlic shrimp noodles were hands down the best we've ever had, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The drunken noodles were outstanding, and the spicy sweet and sour dish was truly epic. And let's not forget about the drinks—the Thai tea was spot on, and we tried the lemon Thai iced tea for the first time—smooth and absolutely delicious! As for appetizers, the pork stickers were cooked to perfection, and the dipping sauce was a delightful surprise. Lucky Thai Street Food has definitely become our go-to spot for authentic and mouthwatering Thai cuisine. Highly recommend giving them a try—you won't be...
Read moreThis place is my go-to for delicious takeout Thai food. Even though there is a dining areas, I’ve never sat down and ate there. One day I will, but you really can’t go wrong with their take out.
The wait is never too long, they are very quick at making your orders. Located inside of 168 market, I usually place my orders then go inside the market to browse/shop, and it’ll be ready in 10-15 mins.
I will say the staff is always very friendly and welcoming. The food they make definitely taste authentic.
Favorite dish is the drunken noodles with the flat rice noodles and pork. Medium spicy is plenty spicy for me. Spicy enough and you can taste all the ingredients but not too spicy to overwhelm you.
The pad see ew we like as well, maybe a little on the sweeter side for me personally but everyone else that’s tried it with me enjoys it.
Will be coming back as long as they’re open and will try their...
