I've been waiting 25 years for Lafayette to get a Dave & Buster's. After giving up on the idea that we may ever get one, we finally got our very own. Tonight I took my daughter to check it out. Here's how it went:
We walked in and were greeted by staff. They seemed genuinely happy to be there and to help us. We told them we wanted to eat before we went to play, so we were seated at one of the tables in a large dining area.
This particular D&B has that atmosphere you get from the ones I've visited before (Houston and New Orleans). You're instantly energized and feel like you're about to have a great time. Even though it wasn't that busy at 4:30pm on a Wednesday, it was still a great feeling being there.
The food was really good, as it always is at D&B's. My daughter had a half rack of ribs with fries (half rack was really big). She loved it, as did I when I had some of it. I had the fish and chips. The fish was too hot to eat immediately...something that I don't experience often. It was very good, portions were good and we were both satisfied with our meal.
I didn't know that Wednesday was half priced games, so our $50 card lasted a long time compared to other entertainment venues in the area. We tried a lot of the games but didn't get to them all. My daughter had a blast, winning over 6700 tickets. The variety of games is really good, and there are some that I haven't seen before. After we were done, we went to collect on our tickets. I LOVE the set up. Instead of waiting in line while one or two families pick out their prizes, you walk in and shop for what you want. This is so much better, and we were able to leave with a nice bag of stuff.
While this D&B is considered a mini version, the place is huge. Of course there are attractions that we don't have that others do, but they aren't missed. This is THE venue to go to. We still love our other venues, but Dave & Buster's is our favorite. My daughter is already asking to go back. I also can't wait to go hang out, have a few drinks and watch some sports with a group of adults. We finally have a Dave & Buster's, and it was...
Read moreMy experience was not so pleasant i had we decided to eat & order drinks before playing the food was okay the drinks was watered down , but i still didn’t complain at that point, our waiter was good she just wasn’t educated on alot of things as far as questions we had which was fine they just opened so i get it , at the point she started rushing us to finish our food an drinks we hadn’t played any games yet, our waiter came to the table again for the 3rd time explaining its time for her to get off can she close our ticket while we are still eating i calmly told her we was still eating then a manager came to our table to tell us other people waa coming in they need our table keep in mind she was very rude we were still drinking an eating an had spent alot of money an still haven’t played a game yet we we’re enjoying the drinks an atmosphere no matter where I have ate I’ve never been rushed in my life to eat or to leave someone’s establishment. I will not be returning to Dave & Buster’s. Hopefully this is a eye-opener for you all you cannot sit and eat and enjoy just being in the atmosphere before you go and play games I was rushed to eat my food to drink my drinks. It was rude. It was disrespectful all because they wanted new customers to come and sit down and we hadn’t even been there an hour yet. I understand it’s a new place and everyone wants to join but don’t rush certain customers just so other customers can be seated, it’s not our fault that the place is not as big as it should be but I promise me and my family would not be returning to Dave & Buster’s for the rudeness after we spent over $300 which is not a lot but in that case is...
Read moreIf I was strictly rating bar service this would be a 1 star all the way. I absolutely cannot believe what an awful service experience I had on my first visit since they opened. It took 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me at the NEARLY EMPTY bar (three different people walked up and were served before I was). Once someone did, all she said was “you good?” To which I responded “no, can I have a drink menu please” she handed it to me without a word. Came back 5-6 minutes later and asked “have you made a decision yet” obviously annoyed, how on earth she could be annoyed at me???? Not a clue. I just ordered my drink and an app. About mid way through my app and nearly done with my beer, I was looking around for her so I could order a second beer and she finally came by. My mouth was full, so I pointed to my beer to ask for another one and she asked “do you want ONE more beer?” I just covered my mouth and answered “yes, thanks”. She brings the beer and then asks “can I have your card?” And CLOSES ME OUT????????? I gave it to her assuming she was opening my tab - my bad guess I should have clarified. She was incredibly slow, rude and pushy for me to leave. Which btw, this entire encounter was over and I was back in my car typing this review with 10 minutes until closing. I worked as a server for 8 years so I fully understand when you’re mentally and physically exhausted at the end of a shift, but the complete lack of teamwork (the other bartender absolutely refused to even pretend to serve me) and blatant disrespect and intolerance for just having a guest at your bar, is totally...
