Dickey's Barbecue Pit — Restaurant in Lafayette

I have given this place several tries, but this particular restaurant is absolutely terrible. I have dined in two different Dickey's in another state, and it was much, much better. The Lafayette location is filthy. You can see how nasty it is behind the counter where they are serving. Yesterday, while they were preparing my food, the guy cutting the meat picked up the trash can to scrape the fat from the meat into it. He did this while wearing the SAME gloves he was using the cut meat for customers, and didn't change them prior to continuing to cut meat. Take a good look at the machine that butters the bread, as it clearly hasn't been cleaned in a long time, as well as the counter and everything else on the back wall by the food prep area. The bathroom is also filthy, and the lid to the BBQ sauce on one of the containers is broken and flopping around. The hall that leads to the bathroom is piled with supplies and looks like they just don't give a damn. This place needs to be cleaned from top to bottom. I should also mention that this building is only about 2.5 years old, so there's absolutely no reason for it to be like this. I should report them to the Health Dept. The food is dry and tastes like it has been sitting for a long time, the portions are way to small for what you pay. The ice cream cone dispenser is never stocked properly, and the cones are falling out of the box. Customers frequently have to grab the cones out of the box and end up touching the other cones. The people who work there look like slobs and are Seem to always be disorganized, even when there are hardly any customers. The employees at the register handle your debit card with the greasy gloves they used to prep the food, and hand you your card with grease all over it. Everything about the other Dickey's restaurants I dined at in another state was nothing like this one. Everything was clean, tasted good, and the price was much better for what you get portion wise. I'm going to completely give up on this place, and wouldn't recommend anyone waste their time or money going there. Terrible...

I went for lunch today got tha 2 meat combo with 2 sides my total was 18 som almost 20 dollars i ask did it come with a drink I was told no so I asked can I at least get a cup for ice so I can get water cus I didn’t have anything to drink I was told no they don’t give cups I went a few weeks ago an the lady that was there gave me a cup for water when I asked but this time I was told they don’t give water cups I would have to purchase a drink or pay $3 for a cup how are y’all charging people this high for food an u spending that kinda money an can’t even get a courtesy cup of water now mind u they had clear cups on the countertop like the one the lady gave me last time!!! I told tha guy that was working if I’m spending this much money how y’all don’t give water cups I shouldn’t have to spend more money if I don’t want to jus to buy a soda or spend $3 dollars on a cup this is nonsense!!!!! I’m not rich a don’t have it like that!!!! I requested a refund!!!! I will not be spending my hard earned money at a place of business that refuses to give their customers a water cup!!! Friendly staff, cust. service was nice as well. As far as the food goes, ill give it a... meh. I worked for a bbq smoke house for 4 1/2 years, (Podnuhs bbq), so know a few things about itand from a personal opinion, its sort of ok but nothing to rave about. Could have been becaues it a fairly new establishment and all of the equipment has yet to have been broken in properly but who am i to say. The meats themselves looked very appealing (though you have to ask to see it due to it being im a steamer) with nice smoke rings throughout. Its nice and tender also but the smoke flavor seemed a little light and artificial. Some might like it although i found it to be fairly, if barely, average cooks. Prices were in the mid ranged in todays standards, a little higher than what im use to seeing, The portions are okay but the whole thing seemed and tastes a tad bit commercial to me. But dont let what i have to say stop you from giving it a shot, your opinion may be the complete opposite. I may give it one more shot some time down the road. Who knows, things asvwell as my thought on it...
