Pros: good food, great atmosphere, awesome waiting staff, nice ambience, excellent patio (overlooking the courthouse), the music volume is just about right.
Cons: Drinks are expensive.
Let me start by saying that I have been here only twice. During both my visits, I have had wonderful experience here. I am a vegetarian, and I suffer from lack of options, especially in bars and pubs. They have a large variety of burgers, which can be turned vegetarian by substituting with a veggie patty. I would suggest the portabella mushroom burger to other fellow vegetarians - it tastes absolutely delicious. The second time I went, they were running half-off appetizers offer, and it is a great deal for the price. I was charged excess by mistake, and after I pointed it out, the owner waived off our entire appetizer bill, which was a nice gesture. I would rate this place better than la scala, bistro501 and on par with red seven.
Suggestions: Cheese bricks are awesome - make sure you try it when you visit - one order of cheese bricks would suffice for a party of 6. Velveeta fries are a little hyped, they are just regular fries with a fancy dipping sauce.
Update: A quick update to my earlier 5 star review: I was charged twice for my bill, and I was told that the charges will be refunded back to the card in 2-4 working days. It has been over 2 months, and I have not received the refund yet - I have now taken it up to dispute it with the bank. Such a terrible experience. Be very cautious about your charges and please double...
Read moreWent to Digby's for a late-night dinner. It wasn't awful but it wasn't great. I'm at 3 stars, kind of indifferent on them. The place was busy, there were a few extremely loud and obnoxious women in the pool table area. They must have been in bad need of attention. Digby's staff should have done something to distract them or maybe even asked them to bring it down a bit. It was irritating. The staff was friendly, yet the server had no suggestions or opinions on the food choices. She also had no clue about what Digby's name meant or what the theme of the bar was. I googled it... kind of interesting. Anyway, we had the fried chicken salad, the BBQ nachos, and some cocktails. The salad was very good, no complaints. The nachos were not great and were served cold. I ordered an old fashioned and it was so strong... I mean STRONG!!!! They had open mic night outside and had drawn in at least 3 people to watch/ participate. It seemed like a very regular crowd and that's fine, maybe they are ok with that. I just wasn't overly impressed. At least they were open late and serving food late, most nearby competitors were either closed or not...
Read moreGreat bar, friendly staff, iTunes juke box and pool table. Don't always have coffee ready though :)
Update : covid night out one year later. Server suggested the steak tip sandwich. At $11 I was skeptical but the first bite caused my eyes to roll back in my head in with a culinary orgasm. The green pepper and onion were caramelized in a way previously only available to kings and emperors. The steak was as tender as possible (the steak is marinade in high $whisky and a few secret ingredients), the mozzarella was fresh... I honestly was going to order something else but I can assure you I'll never order anything else. Best sandwich in the tri state area. No kidding.
Aug 25 update : my incredible wife/personal chef once again ordered the avacado steak salad. I asked (as I always do) "why are you ordering that yet again? Try something new. Everything is fantastic here." Consistant as the northern star was her reply. "but it's sooooo good!" I tried it. She wasn't lying. The steak was outstanding. Paired with avacado and the perfect salad mix, this is a healthy low carb option. Still consider digbys one of the finest kitchens...
