Dwight's Restaurant — Restaurant in Lafayette

We had dinner here a couple of nights ago. We chose Dwight's because we wanted boiled crawfish and that is why most people end up here I'm sure. But this year, 2024, crawfish are very expensive, so I wanted something more affordable and Dwight's has more than just boiled Crawfish. We got an appetizer of corn and crab bisque with chips which I thought was absolutely amazing. I could have made a meal just from that and been very happy, but I did order an entree anyway. I selected fried alligator. You probably know that alligator has to be prepared just right or it can be tough and chewy. No worries here, it was tender, juicy, and delicious. And it was a generous portion. My wife did get the boiled crawfish. She allowed me to sample it and it was just right. I don't know if there's something extra they add for flavoring but I detected something unique and different in the flavoring. It wasn't just the usual salt and cayenne pepper flavor. I don't use any dips with my crawfish, so I'm tasting only the crawfish. I really liked whatever it was, whether it was my imagination or not! This is a casual place with a nice relaxed atmosphere. We will be back many more times in the future. But be warned, this place is well liked and packed on...

This was our first time being there, went for dinner and was not the greatest experience at all! Crawfish and shrimp was hard to peel, the only good thing was the oysters. We didn't eat all of our food so there was a good bit leftover... crawfish, shrimp and oysters. I got up to use the bathroom to wash my hands and so did my husband, we did leave our coats on the chairs while the waitress went to grab us a to go box. I come back our food and drinks were gone! Waitress came back and asked where our food went, I'm like ahh I don't know. So she left to see where it was, my husband came back and asked the same thing.... turns out they threw our food away!! The waitress apologized and gave us a 1# of crawfish and a small peach cobbler. No, we wanted our food but we weren't gonna get it apparently for how much we paid for the food! No manager came to the table to talk to us, my husband had to ask to speak with a manager before we left. Upon talking to her she said I apologize we fussed at them, it's their 4th day, excuses, upon excuses. Then saying what do y'all want? Felt like she didn't care enough. Wow !! This was a great lunch!! First off, I was not aware of the style - I guess you might call it Cafeteria Style 😃

We got there just about 11 with no issue parking, and no waiting. By the time we left the line was respectfully long and the parking lot full. This is quite a popular place with the locals, and now I see why !

The food is just great - very much home style and what one might call "comfort food."

I am from out of town and not familiar with what daily or weekly specials they have, but today's visit was just great. Def a place a roll visit again!

The dining area is huge and can easily accommodate bigger parties, or even a party of one..... I love the decor here ( see photos). Very relaxing and lotsa older...
