Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers — Restaurant in Lafayette

TL;DR, the food sucks and the workers are so rude!! If you want to pay 60$ to wait forever, be ignored, and end up with cold food, this is the place for you.

Ordered dinner for four tonight at 8:40 online, the app told us 12-15 minutes so we arrived around 8:55. Let me just start, as service workers, my friends and I can tolerate a lot in terms of inconvenience. We understand things get backed up. When we told the worker we had a mobile order, he said the food “wasn’t even close to done” and said something about pulling up with an attitude. We rode to the window where he ignored us for the next fifteen minutes, walking right past us and making eye contact multiple times before giving us full cups of melted custard and a food bag full of cold food. We still thanked him, trying to ease the tension and ask for sauces and he shut the door in our face, not a single word after I left the speaker. Before leaving we checked and found a missing order of chicken fingers. I went in and asked for them to remake just the 5 piece, and the worker dug through the bag, didn’t believe us at first, and then pointed at my onion rings saying that was what I ordered. We checked the receipt and eventually we got everything we ordered. But again with the attitudes. NO ONE acknowledged us and when we asked for what we paid for, we were the problem. The chicken was overly breaded, undercooked, and mushy, and the specialty fish sandwich looked undercooked as well. Everyone in there was so rude! And not to mention, we were the only car in the drive through for the 20-25 minute ordeal, and one of three other groups in the lobby, clearly not the busiest. We were met with so much hostility over four combo meals, so...

If I could leave 0 stars I would. On 05/31/2025 I made a mobile order through the Freddy’s app for pick up, I was feeling tired and did not feel like getting out the car so I had my fiancé get out to get our food for us. A VERY disrespectful and rude worker at this location immediately yelled at my fiancé that “he should know better” for grabbing our food and my finances laughed thinking he was joking. He continues to say “you work for DoorDash right”. When my fiancé corrected him multiple times, he disregarded what he said completely. When my fiancé proceeded to ask for our cups for our drinks he rudely told him “that’s why you’re standing right there looking confused because you don’t have your whole order.” However our entire order was in the bag. The way he treated my fiancé and made assumptions was completely unnecessary and unacceptable and disrespectful. You don’t treat people like that. He told us his name was Travis when asked but we aren’t sure how true that is. The lack of customer service and southern hospitality that we often see in Louisiana was not present here & We won’t be coming back to this location. Also our fries were soggy and cold. This place has went downhill...

I love Freddys! I feel like it's one of those places where "what you see is what you get" and in their case, they make delicious diner food and decadent desserts just like you'd expect from a retro inspired diner, if not exceeding expectations. I wasn't really yelping much the first two times I went there so I don't have pics of it, but both times I had a turtle sundae and it was great. My sundaes had a LOT of pecan HALVES....not pecan crumbs....pecan HALVES melts...drizzled with warm chocolate sauce and caramel with a cherry on top (literally!). As for FOOD food, the only sandwich I've ordered thus far was the patty melt. It was great the first time and even better the second time :) you can't go wrong with grill top beef, cheese and grilled onions....but you CAN enhance it ten fold if you eat it with fry sauce YUM!

As for this particular location, the service was fast and friendly. I wish I had gotten the name of the cashier, but he was working March 23, 2019 at noon, the one with the glasses....
