Really was thinking of giving this place a 2 star for my review, but the owner was a nice guy, so I'm giving it an extra star for that.
This place is located in an Auto Zone parking lot, and for that reason, I have never once had the urge to get food from here. But, my room mate wanted to try it out because it is highly reviewed and very local, so we did.
From the outside , it doesn't look the cleanest, but it's a food so 🤷. Like I said earlier, located in the autozone parking lot so I did not trust that either. THe food though , we both got 3 tacos, I had steak my room mate had chorizo. The steak was very tough and not seasoned very well. But For taste , I'd say overall I'd give this place a 5/10. Not very impressive, but also not BAD.
The issue I have is that the food upset both my room mates and my stomach. Both of us the next day were on the toilet expelling the food in abnormal ways.
I will not be back to this place, and I can't...
Read moreWe found this place on a whim as we were driving by and decided to give it a shot. Wow, we were really impressed with the food. We ordered 4 tacos asadas, 4 tacos al pastor, and we were definitely more than happy that we stopped by. It's literally a one man team, he does it all. The food tastes fresh and cooked to order, the tacos come with a side of grilled onions and radishes. Plus the red and green chili salsas are great. The red salsa is on the spicier side for sure but probably the best tasting salsas around packed with a punch of great flavor. We would highly recommend this food truck for sure. These are true Mexican street tacos. The man working, I'm assuming is the owner is very polite and friendly. Next time you want great food, stop by for sure. The place is located in the parking lot of auto zone, at the intersection of S.Public and S. Boulder Rd. South East corner...
Read morePorfidio's Mexican food at La Familia is downright amazing. I have lived in Lafayette for 2 years, and this is the best food I've found, with Tacos Aya Yay coming in a very close 2nd. I had a world-endingly good bacon breakfast burrito there that I still dream about. They have Mexican pupusas (which I didn't know existed) that are on-par with excellent Salvadoran pupusas. My girlfriend had a pescado torta (fish sandwich) that was promptly devoured (I had a bite or two, it was amazing). What sets this place apart is that they don't skimp on the fat, and it really makes every bite delectable, and the seasonings are just perfect.
If you're looking for serious Mexican food in Lafayette (a town awash with good options), look no further. The kicker is that there's never a line, and the prices are VERY affordable. Gracias, Porfidio!
