Have been coming here since I believe around my 15th birthday. (I’m almost 25.) The place has changed a lot — It has gone from a little hole in the wall with super basic tables/chairs and some decor, to a REALLY cute little joint that has Japanese pull-out tables and seats, and just little subtle details that make it way cozier. It was always adorable before, but now it’s somehow even better. Very stylized, feels like an actual joint you’d go to in Japan.
The food? Insane. Genuinely some of the best Japanese food I’ve had in Colorado, ESPECIALLY the sushi, holy cow! Flavor bombs. We always split the whole grilled squid and the fried bananas w/ red bean ice cream… heavenly. I tried the takoyaki recently for the first time and wow is it good! Everything is very fairly priced, also, compared to most sushi joints you go to around the area, especially Boulder itself.
Overall, I recommend this place so much. Take your time with the menu as it’s MASSIVE — but every single thing I have gotten here over the years has been not just good, but UTTERLY fantastic. The people in charge are also incredibly kind. Do not miss out...
Read moreOur experience here seems to be below par based on the other reviews, but it is what it is. Considering the tight cluster of Asian/Indian eateries in this one block, I would expect more emphasis on quality and customer service than we received. We picked up a take out order and discovered once we opened it up at home that there was no rice with one of the meals. I called and asked for a replacement that we could pick up at a later time. Considering the inconvenience and the fact that I'm not going to sit down and eat plain, steamed white rice, I asked if it could be fried and was flatly told no. So my meal can be messed up and I have to get back in my car and drive there just to get what I ordered, but they can't spring for a slightly more expensive version of rice to make up for it? That will be our first and last time eating there. Also, if the food had been stellar, I might feel a little better. But I have to say their ramen soup is the blandest I have ever tasted, by far. Couldn't even finish it. If you want spicy Asian in that area, try Tandoori Kitchen around the corner in the...
Read moreThe food was pretty good and it was nice and quiet, we were the only ones there for quite a while but one of the four rolls I ordered caused some disagreement between the person making the food and the person who took my order. That roll didn't come out but we were charged for it, after we paid the head of house was like, "have a good one" like we would just forget what we ordered, I guess? I asked about the 4th roll I ordered and he first played dumb like he didn't ring me up for four different types of sushi and they didn't argue about it right in front of us, then he brought me something else entirely, which was tasty but it wasn't what I asked for. All of that is to say that if the food maker is in a mood you won't get what you ask for but what you get will be tasty. I wish they had asked me to change my order instead of...
