Mici Italian — Restaurant in Lafayette

I had a catering order May 7th and was left feeling extremely disappointed with MICI. They fell short on a few things that should be unacceptable for any catering order, especially not an $800 event with a MONTHS notice. We had nothing to serve the lasagna or salad dressings, the pizzas weren’t double cut, we barely got any croutons, all the lids were tore up and barely holding on, there was no empty pans to hold the water that the sternos heat up (especially because the sternos and wire racks had to come out of my pocket), the chicken was cut SO THICK that the large catering pan we ordered really only had as many servings as a small, and there wasn’t enough plates. Shelley was super unprofessional communicating that she waited until the last possible minute to get serving spoons. She decided to send a text instead of calling and stating the reason they wouldn’t make it was because the didn’t arrive on the truck that day, it was 4pm so it was too late to get any, and she didn’t work tomorrow {the day of the catering}. When we were notified they wouldn’t be included with the order I asked for a discount since it was ANOTHER thing that had to come out of my pocket and she told me she would just go to dollar tree instead. Andrea (the delivery driver) gave me attitude because I wanted to check that everything was delivered before she left but she failed to bring the receipt. MICI did not even live up to it’s bare...

We tried several different items and loved them all. My son with pleased with the kid pizza. It was a decent size, good amount of pepperoni and was stone cooked. I tried the Palermo sandwich and it was tasty. The bread crust was a little hard, but I was able to pull it off and enjoy. The sandwich was large enough for me to save half for lunch the next day and was very flavorful and fresh. We also enjoyed the Florentine cookie was delicious - you don't often find these outside of family gatherings. We also tried 3 ice creams / gelatos - yummy! The lemon sorbet was a little tart, but it's made with fresh product so should expect that. We liked that they offer Blue Sky soda - makes me feel better about letting my child have a fountain drink and he choose the lemonade- even better! We also found the "here's your menu, read and come back" a little disjointed, especially since there was no one else in there at the time (although it did get busy). We also wish they had asked for our reward # since we joined at the table and placed a second order (gelato), but missed it. We asked, but she said we should have told her before (and honestly, we should have). Only disappointed as we missed out on valuable points. Wasn't enough to deter a 5 star of this place. One of the best pizzas we've had in Colorado! The crust was delicious; perfectly cooked. Salad was huge and filled with fresh ingredients. Balsamic dressing was sweet with a little tang to it. Our kids loved the side of grapes! The also enjoyed creating creatures out of pizza dough and having them baked to eat. Really nice touch for the kiddos. Staff was extremely friendly and really very pleasant people.

The only negative for us: it's confusing to take a menu, sit, read it, order at the counter, sit and have the food brought out. We're more used to table service (especially at $67.00 for the 5 of us) where we can add items (like the additional side of grapes I forgot or a second glass of wine) to our bill and not have to pay again. Tipping was also awkward! I wasn't sure if I should leave cash on the table since they were so attentive, friendly and bussed our plates. Or added it at the beginning when I paid?
