Old Buffalo's Outpost Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Lafayette

My family and I truly enjoy this restaurant, we go at least twice when I come to visit and always bring new people because we love the food so much. It is by far the most frequented establishment we go to in the town. The wings are excellent!! Most times we have a very pleasant experience and the servers are very polite and make great conversation. Our resent visit was not so pleasant though. As we walked into the bar with our cousin who was under 21 to show her how good the food was, a bright blonde women immediately greeted us in a very cross tone by yelling across the bar asking us if all of us were 21 to which we replied no. She proceeded to rudely say that we can’t be there and that we’d have to leave as it is the bars policy and berated us for not knowing about such a policy. Her tone was extremely curt, dismissive and downright rude. So rude infact that the entire restaurant fell silent with her tone towards us. Yes we now understand the bars policy and would, and will continue to, respect it but her approach to greeting customers was absolutely appalling. We ordered to go but she proceeded to have an uptight attitude the entire experience and made our cousin wait in the car. Suffice to say I hope she can bring a better attitude to future customers and I hope never to cross her path for future...

Ordered 2 ribeyes on steak night. One rib eye was 2 pieces of steak pushed together, more fat on both steaks than any rib eye I’ve ever ordered before. Cowboy beans were cold. Salad was not not great, potato was below average, bread was ok. Mixed drink was not great but cheap. Service was very good. The chain steakhouses are better and better value sad to say.

Went back to try lunch. Waitress smelled like she slept under a bar stool, soaked in stale cigarettes and beer. Even wearing a mask we could smell her. The tenderloins are some of the smallest We have ever gotten for an Indiana tenderloin, tasted ok. Burger was ok, nothing to write home about, Culver’s is better. We really wanted to like this place with it being local. Menu is very limited and with what they serve should be outstanding. It’s not bad, it just doesn’t stand out. What stands out is the friendly down home service more than anything. Don’t know if we would drive across town to go here, it’s not good...

Why is there never a waitress/waiter for the dinning room? Both times we've been there (Saturday evenings) the poor bartender has been responsible for both the bar and dinning areas. On both occasions the bartender was nice and did what she could to take care of everybody, but could not, should not be asked to, take care of everyone in the whole damn place. Had to wait for drinks and food longer than just about any other place we go to. Plus follow-up on drinks wasn't very timely. Again, the bartender was great, she really tried to take care of everybody and was super nice/friendly. Too bad because the food was very good and the place is clean, well lit, not too noisy (still have a conversation at your table without music being too loud) and just a real nice place. But can't see us going back anytime soon unless we hear from our friends, who live near by and go frequently, that the wait staff situation has been...
