Parkway Pizza & Subs — Restaurant in Lafayette

Are you from the West Coast (or East Coast or Chicago) and dismayed by the utterly terrible attempts at pizza Tippecanoe County boasts? Well, while Parkway Pizza and Subs can't top a best list in Seattle, Portland or San Francisco, it certainly wouldn't be laughed at in those cities. It's my family's refuge in an otherwise desert of bad pizza (I'm a West Coast guy, if you fancy thin crust these guys do that well too, but that's not my area of expertise).

By the way, yeah, they serve gyros. Normally, I hate fusion. Here's the thing, the owners are largely from Turkey. If you know your pizza history you know flat breads trace their lineage through the Mediterranean. The pita and pizza crust aren't distant cousins, they're siblings. So these guys know crust and well, they don't make a bad gyro either.

Food is always great from here and the staff is very friendly to me each time. I love the Philly cheese steak sandwich. Have not branched out on their menu much from this, but my food is never a disappointment from here. They have a nice selection of menu items. I would more than likely never have them deliver to me just because if you make the sandwiches a meal, you get steak fries and a drink with it and obviously fries don't stay hot too long, so kinda on you if you do delivery and get fries and they are cold. This restaurant is located next to the Lindo Mexico restaurant and the Amethyst Heart Wellness spa. Inside is a bit small, so more for a cozy group of people if you should choose to dine in. Only thing I can say is that when you do get fries, the order is a small and you don't get much. I only waited around 10 minutes for my to go order. Nice clean place. Food was great with the exception of the the gyro meat being a bit dry. If it weren’t for that, would’ve been a perfect 5 stars. I got the Greek salad and the gyro. The salad was spectacular. Tons of fresh veggies and feta, and the dressing was delicious. The gyro was big and the meat had this amazing char taste to it (like it was grilled over charcoal). Absolutely delicious. My daughter got the calzone which she said was delicious and had tons of cheese. Great cheese pull on it. I’ll post pics. She also got breaded mushrooms which were your typical breaded mushrooms. Lastly was the baklava. You get 2 pieces to an order and they’re big pieces.
