Put in an online order after we burned our dinner in the oven while trying to put together a baby gate for the pups. I got there 15 minutes before they were supposed to close to pick up our order -- though, with COVID-19, a lot of restaurants' hours are different right now, so that's on me for not actually calling and checking.
They had already locked up. I shuffled back to the car, resigned to asking my husband if he wanted a frozen pizza or fast food. Before I could call, a woman hopped out of a mini-van that had just pulled out of the parking lot and asked if I had an order. I explained that I had just put an order in online, and showed her my phone. Since we had already paid, I just wanted to ask if we could get the meal for pick-up the next day since they'd already closed. Instead, the woman asked if I could wait in my car for 10 minutes. I said sure, and she and the man who was with her in the van re-opened the restaurant and cooked us a delicious dinner.
If you like Chinese food and appreciate incredible customer service, please consider supporting Sichuan House.
My husband made a point of telling me to mention that he's from New York and has had yet to find ANYWHERE else that he likes Chinese food. Michigan, Atlanta, no where we've lived has met his expectations until Sichuan.
By the way, check out the sliced lamb and scallions.

Read moreOver this whole COVID-19 period, we've done multiple deliveries/curbside pick-ups from Sichuan House. I haven't had a chance to try out many other Chinese food places in Lafayette/West Lafayette, except for Peppercorns Kitchen, so I don't have a lot to compare with locally.
Their service is prompt and only on one occasion did they get our order wrong. Portions are good sized and prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, most of their takeaway dishes come in plastic containers. Hope they'll make changes to that soon.
Food is good. The reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because certain dishes have turned out differently to what I'm used to. For example, on two occasions the kung pao chicken had been deep fried. Traditionally (correct me if I'm wrong), kung pao chicken is not a deep fried dish. Their vegetarian mapo tofu is really yum - I'd definitely recommend that. So is their chilli fish fillet.
My other major concern with their food is that they use a LOT of oil. I usually end up scooping out multiple tablespoons of oil before eating. Please, please cut back on how much oil you guys use. It's...
Read moreWe gave Sichuan House a try on Christmas Day this year. I really try to avoid leaving bad reviews, due mainly to all the factors I might not be aware of that might lead to occasional bad service or food quality, but my reason for this review appears institutional. While my General Tso's chicken tasted ok (sauce was thin, which led to a not very strong taste), the absolute main reason for my poor rating was the portion size for the price. They offer a "regular" size portion of General Tso's Chicken (pictured, and that is a single layer of food) for $13.95, which is about the right price for a regular portion most places in town. The problem is the portion size. This portion is probably still smaller than most "lunch" portions at places like En Lai and Peking. I am accustomed to getting more than twice as much food for the price and consequently didn't get enough to eat.
My wife and 5 year-old shared the $13.95 Sweet and Sour Chicken and it wasn't enough food for them either, and they don't eat much.
VERY disappointed that $30 left all 3 of us...
