Keep in mind, I have very high standards for BBQ as I'm from Texas and have tasted the best. We came in to this restaurant very hungry and honestly not high expectations. I'm not bothered by the fact that the establishment is connected to a gas station. BBQ is historically judged by the food and not so much the atmosphere. I'm not bothered by the 29.00 dinner for two either. Even the worst bbq is expensive. I ordered a two meat plate which consisted of brisket, jalapeno sausage, potato salad, and pinto beans. Let me get the worst out of the way, The pinto beans were awful. I took 2 bites and I was done. Completely bland in flavor. The potato salad wasn't anything special, but it was adequate, much like potato salad from a grocery store cafeteria. The brisket was tender and had a nice smoky flavor. The jalapeno sausage was tasty. However, as I mentioned, BBQ in Texas sets a high bar and this place falls below it. It wasn't bad bbq at all, in fact, I mentioned to my wife it reminds me of the brisket someone would bring to church pot luck after church on Sundays. That said, you would have to drive a ways out of town to get good food in general, and I would imagine if I lived in this area, that I would frequent J&J's quite a bit. It would probably be my go-to if I lived here. They also offer many other dishes and if I come back to Lago Vista, I might stop in and try some of them. 3 stars is not...
Read moreEveryone reading this, do not go by the prices advertised on their website. I used to love this place, you just lost a long time customer. You can blame the young man with the mustache that works the counter for that too. If this was my establishment, I would flat out fire him or maybe offer him better training. His customer service skills are horrendous. He kept telling me it would be 10 minutes even though I called it in and my order was waiting in the food warmer the entire time. Back to the original complaint, they are knowingly advertising incorrect prices. When you bring it to their attention, they will say that they are separately owned from the one in Cedar Park, even though that one is closed and the prices are shown on THEIR Largo Vista store's website. Not Cedar Park's. It's a flat out lie. You should be honest in your advertising. You even had the nerve to blame me for advertising the wrong price. To be told there's nothing you can do after being charged even though the price is completely different than what is shown, and then tell me you don't price match. Who are you price matching? Your the one advertising it!! I'll be filing a complaint with the BBB as well as disputing with my credit union the difference in price advertised vs what...
Read moreWell where to begin. I came here with my family for a quick stop for food. I ordered several different types of tacos. I believe like 9 tacos, which some of them had eggs in which is what I wanted. However, as my family and I were eating our tacos with eggs, we found egg shells. At first it was just small pieces that were noticeable, yes, but tolerable because we were hungry. But as we kept eating through the tacos there were more and more egg shells, that were way to big to be eating in all of the tacos. It was disgusting biting through all i felt was constant crunching, when it should've been soft. The entire reason why we ordered tacos is because its difficult to mess up a taco order. They're supposed to be easy to make, especially for a place like this. I'm sure many people order tacos in the morning or during the day since its connected to a gas station. I know the quality isn't going to be as great as other places but I've eaten at better gas stationed restaurant joints than this. I do not re recommend this place at all, and I'm not ever come back here again. I was very...
