Rotolo's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Lake Charles

It's been years since I've been until a few weeks ago. It was AMAZING. So when my youngest child said she wanted noodles for her birthday dinner I said, I know exactly where I want to go. We arrived and was seated. The young waitress was new, you could tell, she doesn't have the confidence as a seasoned server. She got our drinks and we ordered cheese bread with half jalapeños-the kids wouldn't have eaten it if the entire thing had them on it. My husband ordered a draft dos xx and I ordered a lemon drop (they were both half off until 7). She came back and took our order. I ordered the muffaltta calzone an added jalapeños and roasted garlic, my husband ordered the angry pig pizza, my mother ordered the lasagna, one child ordered chicken strips with chips, and the other child ordered buttered noodles, and we added garlic parmesan bites. The waitress and the bartender checked on us. The food came out and everything was hot and fresh. The garlic parmesan bites were half off as well, so I wanted to try them. Some of them were hard, but I liked it. My Calzone was wonderful. My husband's pizza was AHHHHMAZING. He said, "this is one of my favorite pizzas I've had in forever." My little birthday girl loved her butter noodles. My oldest child did not like the chips served with her chicken strips, they were kettle style chips, I liked them. My mom's lasagna was PHENOMENAL. After the server came to our table I asked for boxes and our check. After ten minutes my husband went and found the bartender to check us out and get us boxes. The food was right at $100, which with 2 beers, a cocktail, 2 appetizers, 2 kids meals, and 3 adult meals, I wouldn't say that's terrible. I thought it was a great price. We will...

Atmosphere- 5/5 The clean hardwood floors and mom-and-pop feel makes Rotolos feel homey. The waitstaff all seemed to interact with the guest with smiles, the sounds from the kitchen waived through the air as you could smell the fresh chopped tomatoes and grated cheese.

Wait time- 5/5 We walked through the front door and saw a "please wait to be seated" sign. Within 10-15 seconds we were seated at a booth.

We were able to put our order in with help from our waitress and the food came out fresh under 10 minutes. Very speedy service for a sit down resturant.

Food 5/5 I ordered the Meatlovers calzone and my fiance had a garden calzone. They came out fresh hot and beautifully presented. I'm normally skeptical with my calzones because of the portion size, however these calzones were large and more than enough to fill me up. My fiance ate about half of hers and got a to go box.

Price- 4/5 The Calzones were $8.99 which is not bad considering other Pizza places I've been too however they are still in the ballpark of the average $10 resturant meal.

Rotolos was a very enjoyable resturant with great tasting food at a decent price. They will be sure to have my business in the future and I give a recommendation to anyone looking for a homey...

Everyone loves pizza: For some, it's the crust; others, it's the cheese. However Rotolo's made me realize the sauce might very well be the most important part....it's where the flavor lives! Look, nobody wants some doughy bisquick crust covered in bland tomato sauce topped artificial cheese, regardless of how great the toppings are. You won't find that here.

My wife and I love pizza for different reasons, but we both seem to agree here on Rotolo's; it's got that taste that stands out in a world of pizza chains. Of course I don't fault any chain for not using imported whole mozzarella, which is why I held back a full 5 star rating, but there just aren't enough water buffaloes (where real mozzarella comes from) to go around, lol!

It's the sauce that really stands out here; even other items on the menu benefit from this incredible marinara, and it's noticeable. They cover the crust nicely and not leave a huge ring of bread around the edges like some places do, even on the extra large pies. And I really appreciate that. If I wanted bread, I'd order bread. I want pizza and Rotolo's delivers the goods.

I highly recommend this place if you're looking to break away from the sea of ordinary pizza joints out there. There really us...
